Asia - Day tour to Melaka

We are planning for a tour to KL next week and would like to do a day tour to Melaka. Can anyone suggest some good places to see and for dining in Melaka, and provide with bus services or other transportation information to and from KL?

The usual tour is to jalan-jalan around in Chinatown, west of the river, then go east and across the river to the Town Square area and decide if you want to take in any of the museums. The Lonely Planet and similar guides have the run down.

I'd eat in Chinatown, in one of the sidewalk restaurants on/near Jalan Hang-Jebat. Touristy and somewhat overpriced, but kinda interesting if you're with someone.

You might want to take a look at the lobby of the Hotel Puri on Jn Tun Tan Cheng Lock, avoiding the seriously high speed vehicles while you're walking on the sides of the road.

consider hiring a taxi from kl
