Came across a special package promotion for the IC Toronto Centre on their home page under 'Packages'. For $159 or $179 cdn, you get either a standard or deluxe room with valet parking included. Room must be booked by Sunday, July 15th, and is valid for stays from June 29th to September 3rd.

I booked this stay for this past weekend. Full A/RA benefits apply and rate counts as qualifying stay. No prepayment required and room can be cancelled as late as 6:00 pm local time on date of arrival.

Gah, this makes life tough. I have an overnight layover in Toronto in a little over a week, and this rate is available. I am currently booked at the Doubletree by the airport, which is only about $20 cheaper. I can't decide whether to take that for the convenience of being close to the airport, or whether to take the IC for the bennies.:o Does the hotel have a good upgrade policy at least?

The upgrade policy is pretty good for this hotel. I posted a recent stay experience in the thread - Post your recent RA experience.....
I have always received a 2 room King suite - bedroom + adjoining parlor room. The rooms have a mini-bar in each room. There is always a welcome letter + small fruit basket (1 each of banana, pear, red apple, granny smith apple, orange) + small maple syrup (gift) + 2 bottles of water.
Mini-bars are well stocked as well. Food items are not free.

I stayed there this past weekend on the same sizzler rate.
Upgrade was to a junior suite. (L-shaped, but definitely one room in total, and only 1 minibar!) King suites were available, but upgrade to those was not offered on a complementary basis. Check-in lady stated that junior suite was the standard double upgrade for RA members.
Club access not provided.
Amenity was the same maple syrup and fruit & water you described. Minibar beverages (but not snacks) were complementary. (No bubbly at all in minibar though!) 4pm check-out offered and used too.

I stay at this property frequently and upgrade is usually to either the 2 room suite or the junior suite, it usually just depends on how busy the hotel is. I often prefer a room on the club floor with club access over a suite and it's never been a problem after a quick email prior to arrival. In fact, I find they're very accomodating with my room preference if I email in advance. Then again, I probably stay 50 nights a year here so they may be predisposed to make me happy.

The booking date for this promotion has been extended until August 31, 2007, for stays until September 3rd, although the July 31st date still shows. Rates have been increased by $ 10.00.
Rates are $ 169.00 and $ 189.00, which includes valet parking. Still a good deal.
