Starwood Preferred Guest - Only 250 Pts As Plat Amenity At 4 Points?

Apologies if this has been discussed before, I couldn't seem to find a thread. When I checked out of the Four Points in Allentown (PA) yesterday, the desk agent said the system had noted my platinum amenity as 250 points! Is this new? I stayed there to visit some friends and took advantage of a pre-paid $110.00 a night rate ... rather than the more flexible $160. Do I only get half points because of the lower rate? When I checked in, the guy behind the desk kept muttering about my pre-paid rate: he said nothing about what I would like as an amenity or acknowledged my name.
I've used pre-paid rates a couple of times before .. namely in London .. and had never come across this 250 points thing before.

That has been the case @ all Four Points since day 1 of the "points" amenity program.

This is a Four Points policy and no, it's not new. I guess it's because generally Four Points is their down-market brand. Also, with the current 1000 points/stay promotion, the bonus at Four Points is reduced to 500.

Are you saying one only gets 500 instead of 1000 bonus if he/she stays at 4P?

yes, guests at four points properties only receive 250 points as a platinum amenity instead of the beloved 500 amenity points at other starwood flags.

although i can't find this distinction spelled out on spg.com.

Thanks everyone! Sorry I missed that one. Will pay more attention in future! This was the first time I've stayed at 4 Points ... usually am at a Westin or Sheraton.
