I booked a hotel on the FHR rate for next week, through my Plat Amex. I want to pay with my Black Virgin Atlantic MBNA Amex, that a problem?

No - any old Amex (the BA Amex, for example) is fine in my experience.

In fact, 75% of the time, you can get away by paying with a different card altogether although you should always have an Amex on you just in case.

I have travelled with my parents on several occasions on FHR bookings. At check in, I gave them my Amex, but at check out, my father paid with his Visa. We have never had a problem. Considering that Visa charges a lower fee to most merchants, the hotel probably saved money this way.

Hi,

In T&C, you have to pay with your AmEx Plat card.
Even if no ploblem, you should pay with your AmEx Plat card.

I guess AmEx will do some actions in the future if a lot of people pay with other cards. :)

thanks,
masahiro

the T&C were updated either this year or last year, at least in the US and CA, to specifically say ANY amex card in the cardholders name

Kagehitokiri,

Thanks for telling me about new T&C.
I was really surprised to hear it.:)
I will re-check Japanese T&C again.

Thanks again,
masahiro
