I am thinking of flying Cape Air from STX (St. Croix) to STT (St. Thomas). How reliable is there service? We would be flying back to STT within two hours of catching our United flight back to Maine. Does Cape Air delay or cancel a lot?

Flew with Cape Air twice (EIS - SJU; 2 round trips) and never experienced any problems. One bit of advice, it is a small plane so be prepared for that. I am very comfortable flying in small planes since I live in the Caribbean and fly to many of the smaller airports on business but if your not comfortable in a 9 passenger Cessna 402, I would suggest against Cape Air and opt for the ferry service between STT and STX, but if you an easy flyer go for Cape Air.

I have flown Cape Air many times. APF-EYW, RSW-EYW, SJU-STT, STT-STX.

I like them a lot. Always on time and a fun ride. If you remember the old sitcom "Wings" ...it was based on Cape Air's New England operations. Their operations have a similar feel to the attitude on the show. For instance in Key West the first staff member to greet you is often a cat. The pilot loads the luggage. Stuff like that.

You have to be OK with a very small plane, but for the STT-STX trip the flight is very short. You will spend almost as much time in the plane on the ground as you will in the air. You'll get some nice views of both islands as well.

I also fly with Skagway Air in Alaska, Now that is an experience! A 4 pax single engine Piper and awesome views.
