Last time I rented a car in Phuket it broke down in town and I had to get a taxi back to the hotel. I'd skip it unless you were going to be there anyway.

i always do rent cars in phuket.

and i never had problems with sixt or avis in phuket.

i am going anyway, but i think that other people can use a cheap ride too?

i have posted it in the thailand forum as after some checkin i found out that these rates are available over christmas too and i am sure they are mistaken as the rates on all other homepage says 30-43 usd for the cheapest car...

i have an amex insurance. if my car brokes i just take a cab to the hotel, let amex deal with my car problem and get even the taxi fare back from amex insurance...

so i certainly never worry about rental cars.
