Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - MFU Paid Ticket

I need to route YUL-JFK-HKG on a one way ticket...so I can MFU to J. I understand my CX needs to be booked in H class or higher. However, what I am not clear about is can I add YUL-JFK with AA on the same ticket? I'm guessing I have to plate the ticket CX (160).

Any insight?

Are you using AA or CX miles?

AA miles cannot be used to upgrade on CX flights AFAIK. If you are using CX miles then from now up to 15 October 2007, economy class booking classes that are eligible for a mileage upgrade are YBHKMLV.

According to MPC, the 15 October 2007 deadline applies to confirming an award. Travel can be later than that date.
