Hi everyone,
I tried to find using the search in the forums, but it is not clear for me. I have some questions about the SIxt PLatinum card I got thanks to Flyertalk and to my Flying Blue Platinum card.
I have 40% discount on international standard rates. Is it available for holidays cars?
What about the upgrade (especially in France)?
Could I get extra miles on my FB account or/and on my HiltonHonors account?
How is it possible to book a holiday car and also specify my sixt platinum number? (I tried but I didn't manage)
Is it very worth this sixt platinum card?
Lastly, I booked a rental at Montpellier airport end of jully for a week end. I booked a CLMR (BMW serie1), some ideas of potential upgrades?
I haven't receive so far my platinum card. Is it really needed at the agency to get the platinum perks? I printed my on line booking, but there is no reference to my platinum card neither to my sixt account number.
Thanks a lot in advance for your answers.
Hi!
Here (http://ag.sixt.com//autovermietung/partner/airline_partner/flying_blue.php/en?partner=afrance&display=navi) you can find more information about the perks you'll have renting with Sixt.
No, you will not get a 40% discount on your holiday car as this discount only applys to discountable rates and holiday car rate is non of them. IIRC you'll get a 15% discount on holiday cars but not sure here.
Have you tried to book a standard car and using the 40% discount already. Quite often this results in a better price than renting a holiday car.
You'll only get a discount on your holiday car when booking via phone IIRC. So you have to call Sixt and ask.
In general the Sixt plat card is definately worth it (as it is a match of your current AF status it is not that difficult to get anyway :) ). Your chances to get an upgrade using your plat card are pretty good. If your Sixt card has not arrived by that time just show them your AF Plat card and you should get all the perks as well.
Cheers

The fares quoted when using your platinum number will be higher than the normal fares. For a small car, it can even be more expensive to book using the platinum number. For larger cars, the discount from the platinum makes more sense. I think I only use my platinum number for the reservation about 20% of the time.

 What do you mean when talking of a "normal fare"? Internet fares are not normal fares but already discounted fares. The internet fare can sometimes be cheaper than the Sixt plat fare. If you mean the standard fares when quoting "normal fare" I have to disagree. Plat fare is always cheaper than the standard fares as the 40% discount applies and therefore it must be cheaper…
Again, I agree with you that it makes sense to check different fares first as the internet fare can be cheaper sometime.

hm, what now bugs me is that LH SENs only get 35% "discount" whereas Flying Blue Plats get 40%.
This basically means that FB Plat equals LH HON (who also get 40%) - at least according to Sixt.... What a joke ??

in terms of price you are right, however, as a klm plat you only get sixt plat. hon would get the diamond card.
however, on a weekend tariff, the price difference between 35% and 40%... well, even though some people at flyertalk regard it as a difference, I dont. It is 2-4e... knowing the person in the station will get you a diesel a couple of classes higher anyway and saving more than 2-4e by doing so.

I agree. Other than 5% more discount there is no difference between LH SEN and FB Plat when renting with Sixt.
