Just got a mail from the internal TA showing new service fees to be introduced by SA from 1 August. Basically everything you do via SA's offices, including Voyager transactions, will necessitate paying a fee of R200/R500 for domestic/international tickets.
Like everyone else they are trying to get you to serve yourself on the web. Which is fine if the web functionality is there and working.

R500 fees for touching an international ticket!? Seems rather steep, (even for someone used to BA's "charges"!!)

That is steep indeed, especially considering that I use the personal service only when doing complex bookings which the website doesn't allow me to and mostly I end up explaining to the staff how to actually do the booking.

I know SAA is in deep financial trouble but pissing off their customers is not the way certainly.

I'll just take my money elsewhere. I hardly use SA for intercontinental flights anymore, leaves only domestic flights.
