Was just reading an interesting article about the progress of the new lowish cost transatlantic J-only services (EOS, Maxjet, etc), and was wondering if that could ever be replicated in Asia.
I could picture demand on certain routes (NRT - HKG / SIN, SIN - HKG / TPE, BOM - SIN ?), even at fares quite close to existing J rates, for a full lie-flat horizontal seat (with optional talking-to-companion facilities!), AVOD, and say 50 to 60 seats on a 757 or A321 size plane.
The catch might be that a big part of the benefit on the LON-NY services is the opportunity to skip the nonsense of Heathrow, while we are blessed with the joy of Changi and CLK. Though if an operator could swing either a fast-track service at NRT or flights into HAN I think they would have people pounding on the doors.
