Where's the HHonors property you have stayed at that you liked the most in South FLA?

Miami area?

Key West?

Thanks

Only the SW coast for me...Marco Island, and I would highly recommend it. A bit ironic...I grew up in Miami, and spent MANY, MANY weekends in the keys, but never stayed at any Hilton properties down there so hopefully someone else can come to your rescue.

The new Hilton & Towers in Naples is very
nice, very elegant. It also has a Don Shula Steakhouse.

I will like to stay anywhere between FLL airport & Miami Beach.
It's only one night so I don't want to spend too much.
Hampton Inn Hallandale Beach/Aventura looks good on the map.
Any comments ? or other suggestions ?

I always had really good experiences at the Hilton Garden Inn near FLL. It's fairly new and the rooms I think are on par with a normal Hilton.

the HGI 2 FLL is nice. Ivestayed at HI Aventura plenty of times a plain HI to me. I prefer the HI Platation much nicer pool/hot tub, they have a happy hour free food and drinks (soda/beer) 5pm-7pm. Its right West of FLL on the I-595.
However the best deal although not property is the HI Cypress Creek as its an Opportunity Level- 7500 pts for the night. Its maybe 10 mins North on the I-95 from FLL. Ive been staying there alot on pts as I cant see spending upwards of $139 for a HI night.

Ease of getting to/from the hotel would be either the HGI or Cypress Creek HI both just off the I-95

I have stayed at the DT Oceanfront at FLL and HS Blue Lagoon at MIA. Both are convenient to their respective airports and are decent properties. The DT, being on the beach, is probably too expensive if all you need is a bed. The HS is newer, clean, well run and reasonably priced. My in-laws stayed at a HI in Coconut Grove (?) back in January. It was very expensive (seasonal issue in Florida) for a Hampton and they were not impressed.

Hilton in Sunrise: got upgrades each time I stayed there, free access to fitness center a block away; the have masseuses onsite as well; good sized rooms;

DoubleTree Guest Suites - Galleria; block away from ocean, all suites, balcony with great views of the beaches. Huge rooms.

I'd recommend both of these. Both are slightly north of FLL - couple of exits on 95 (DT) or Fla Pike (Hilton).

Does anyone have any experience of the HGI - Ft. Lauderdale SW/Miramar?

Yes very much so :) I got to have stayed there 20 times is in the last 3 or 4 years ( its close to my parents condo)

The place is about 4 years old, standard HGI in a fairly decent and very safe area ( if you include the cows that used to reside in the pasture next door) very easy access( one traffic light) from I-75.
Has a pool and small bar, provides continental breakast certs which you can upgrade to the full buffet for $3.95 ?? Usually gives the $5 pantry if no room upgrade.
Typical HGI but would recommend if you dont require much in frills.

Note also although there are restaurants etc in general area they are not walkable.

The wife and I have a free airline ticket that we need to use before May of next year. We were planning a trip to South Florida sometime in late February or early March...before spring break. Does anyone have a recommendation of a good resort? We will be traveling with a 7 month old baby so something family friendly (i.e. nice pool) would be great. My initial thought was Key West, but the only option is the Doubletree and I've read mixed reviews. Please share your recommendations/experiences for a good S. Florida (east or west coast). Thanks!

Marco Island Hilton is quite nice. Quiet, nice pool, and little kid friendly.

About 45min drive south of RSW airport.

Great property. Has an outback steak house attached and they run the pool bar. If your
Diamond call the manager and he will take good care of you.

South Florida is a big area you really need to give us a better idea of where you are looking to stay and how much $$ you want to spend. Marco Island is a great property but it cost a lot more during season then a Hampton Inn in Islamorada. ;)

I also vote for the Hampton Inn and Suites on Isla. Good distance between Miami and Key West. Nice pool and activities.

Never stayed at this property but I know Islamorada and it is a nice quiet section of the Keys especially mid week. Weekends there are loads of people from the Miami area that drive down to the Keys for the weekend. Also, make sure the Lobster mini-season isn't on or there will be lots of that going on.

Try the Doubletree Ocean Point Resort in Sunny Isles Fl (north miami beach)..... Great Location from MIA airport.......I had a rate of 135.00 a night so I really like the place. They really take care of diamond members.....The place in near lots of places to eat, not far from the action down on South Beach and if you want to stoll the little one around out of the sun, there's a big mall near by. :) http://www.oceanpointresort.com/

Keys or Marco Island is exactly what I had in mind. I wasn't familiar with the Hampton on Islamorada so I'll definitely check it out. THANKS!

Probably not what the thread starter is looking for in this case, but for a Hilton property in the FLL area I highly recommend the DoubleTree Suites next to the Galleria on Sunrise. The place is beautiful. The views of the Intercoastal are awesome. Prices are reasonable in non prime months.

There is a number of great places to eat and drink next door at the Galleria. There is a fun martini bar on the end closest to the hotel.

that is pretty much in the high season in south florida.
i stay in south florida alot and out of the hilton properties where i have stayed, the deerfield beach embassy suites would be good. its right on the beach and in a nice area to walk with a stroller and the area is mostly families or older people and less hectic than south beach. the hotel restaurant is dreadful but its close to alot of places to eat. There is also a hilton on singer island that is not bad but I am generally there on business so haven't really paid much attention to family amenities.

I've not stayed there yet, but the new Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort looks very nice! It was not open yet when I stayed next door at The Atlantic. I believe they all have kitchens, if not most of them do which would be nice with a child. It really looks like they are trying to bring Fort Lauderdale Beach back and on a more upscale note. It was suprisingly quiet in the area on 2/28-3/1 of this year.

Hi,

Looking for a nice Hilton chain hotel in south Florida (not Miami area) for a week in November.

We would like somewhere relaxing, and with a decent sized room (ideally something with cooking facilities)(not asking for much are we LOL ). We also intend to visit the Keys and the Everglades.

Do Hilton have something nice - or are we better looking at another chain/independant?

Thanks.
