Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - French Polynesia - Blackberry Service?

Hi all!

I'm posting this for my husband, so forgive me if I'm leaving out critical technical details.

I'd like to know if anyone has had experience using their Blackberry in French Polynesia. Since they have a GSM mobile phone network, it is likely that the Blackberry will work, but I was wondering if anyone could share their experience.

I know my husband did some searching on the Verizon site (his provider) but he can't seem to get any definitive information.

I can only tell you that Cingular's Blackberry data service does NOT work in FP. I was told that there are no data services available in FP, period, but it's worth calling Verizon's international dept. to double-check that.

Cingular cell phone service worked (with international roaming set up in advance), so that part of the Blackberry was useable. I believe the cost was $2.29 per minute with Cingular, so needless to say I didn't use it much.
