Hi all,

Just a quick question regarding the underlying ticket on a Y to J upgrade award for JFK-HKG. I know that M class is one of the classes that earns AM so they should be upgradeable for award purposes. But when I look at the fares on Expedia or Travelocity, they are showing a M class "special fare" and then the terms and conditions says that the fare does not earn frequent flyer miles. Does it mean that it's not upgradeable?

Also, are consolidators really the best choice to book the tickets rather than using Expedia or Travelocity?

Thanks.

I guess the T&Cs mean that it doesn't earn miles on AAdvantage.

Note that the rules will change for tickets issued after 15 October 2007, but until then the underlying ticket needs to be in YBHKMLV to be upgradeable using AsiaMiles. For tickets issued after 15 October only YBHK will be upgradeable.
