I heard about this little trick to get a more favorable exchange rate, 1MR:2HH.


Therefore, i transferred 42k AMEX to 42K Hawaiian to get 84 HH.

I just called and they refuse to do the transfer saying that it must be used in Hawaiian. Am I stuck?

Better to do AMEX -> CO (1:1) -> AMTRAK (1:1) -> HH (1:2).

You can only do 25K Amtrak points annually out of their system unless you have elite status with them.
