Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Cathay changed my flight so now I need to buy another nt in hotel - anything owing?

CX have rescheduled the HKG-PER flight, bringing it forward from an overnight flight to a daytime flight.

I'm not happy as we picked CX for this trip primarily because all 4 sectors (UK-Aus) could be done overnight, but now we're left with 3/4, which we could have had with a number of carriers.

Apparently we could get a full refund but that's no good as we have non-refundable commitments in Australia and it's going to cost us £000's more to move to another carrier now.

It's an I class fare so my TA says they won't book us on the overnight QF flight.

Will CX offer us anything? We're (5 plus an infant) booked in J class... From what i've read they seem like a hard nosed bunch in these instances, so I suspect our choices are take it or leave it...

Thanks

No. The TA/Consolidator we bought it from called me. I've done nothing else yet, as I can't see a way around it...

Right, the TA should be one unless your already flew the first segment. However, as CX changes the schedule, you can just ask your TA to check with CX to see if any hotel can be arranged. If your TA does not do that, you can try calling CX yourself.

If you have I fare, I totally agree that getting a refund, even if possible, is not a good idea.

Also, you may want to check on whether stopover is allowed in the city your are staying. It is normally indicated by an X or an O in front of the city in your receipt. Your TA or CX may have to fix that too if stopever is not allowed.

The stopover isn't a problem. The extra hotel costs are associated with spending another night at the destination - we now land at midnight rather than 8am...

I think you should be able to get CX to pay for your hotel.

I agree - I'd be reasonably confident that CX would come up with something for you on this, particularly since you're in business class.

Maybe not as it was purchased through a consolidator.

It should not matter. Most tickets are through consolidators. CX as a carrier changed the schedule. Regardless of legally bound, CX should pay for a hotel to show good gesture. I like CX because they are reputable and I feel they will do it.

Consolidators are a dying breed...

I guess that is true.

Anyway, my TA in US works with her consolidator. The fares seem to be quite reasonable, especially for tickets with 8-10 segments (not RTW).
