American Express Membership Rewards - Is this a Good Deal?--Gold Card Sign-Up

Received an offer in the mail for a new gold card. Do you folks think this is a good deal or should I hold out for better?

It includes:

One complimentary year of card membership (a $150 value)

50,000 Membership Rewards Bonus Points when you spend $500 on your card

Double membership rewards points for every dollar with any of AMex airline and hotel partners during the first year and one and a half points per dollar every year.

...is estatic at the prospect of 25,000 points I would say 50,000 is fine.
