American Express Membership Rewards - Memb rewards feeView Full Version : Memb rewards fee alect Jun 19, 07, 10:41 pm Is this fee charged per card or per Memb rewards account. I have two cards tied to Membership Rewards account and one is fee free, but I have been chared the annual fee for the other card. Is this correct? mia Jun 20, 07, 7:38 am Insufficient information. It would be helpful if you mentioned the exact names of the cards you have and the amount of fees you have been charged. The details matter. There are no "fee free" Membership Rewards cards. There are free cards that participate in Membership Rewards Options (e.g. Blue, Nest, Knot) and there are Green and Gold cards that may have the annual fee waived for the first year. There can be small fees for "linking" Personal or Business accounts to the same Membership Rewards account, and there is a fee for enrolling Corporate cards. itsme Jun 20, 07, 8:38 am I should think that the OP could call AmEx to ask if he should be seeing that fee (how much?). There are questions best not asked, but this doesn't seem like one of them. If the answer is not the one hoped for ("No, you shouldn't be charged that fee, so I will cancel it out."), then perhaps someone can tell the OP how to avoid the fee they are imposing. May I ask a related question here, one that may be in the "gray zone," so I am slightly hesitant to put to an AmEx rep: Can a husband's card and a wife's card go to the same MR account? I have been paying $40/year to have an MR account for a very long time, all the while paying annual fees for a green card and an extra card for my wife, and I wish to be done finally with these expenses which bring little benefit. I just opened a business gold account, which will spare me the additional MR expense, and I am wondering if we should open a separate business gold account for my wife now while their special promotion is out there. Can we have a "joint" MR account linked to a card in my name and another in hers? alect Jun 20, 07, 9:33 pm I have had a Corp Amex on which I paid $75 membership rewards fee. I applied and got an Amex Blue - which clearly stated that the membership rewards was free - even the Amex site states this: https://www124.americanexpress.com/cards/loyalty.do?page=blue&Card_name=Blue&link=CARD_SELECTOR So I think the $40 membership rewards fee is wrong. I will call. But does anyone have info as to whether if you're entitled to membership rewards free under one card, the fee for it on other cards is included or do you pay Memb Rew fee per card? |
