I updated today twice - got 1000 points for each update! They were supposed to change this to 500 per update (only two per quarter). Oh well, I'm not going to complain!

If you check your account a bit later, you'll see you only got 500.

I did my first one, got 1000. Checked back later and it went down to 500. I tried to to a second update but got no points for it.

You're right - just logged in and only got the 1000, even though it showed the larger total points after the second update. Probably a practical joke to us quarterly profile updaters!

Ok. Just got my second bonus by using IE instead of Netscape.

It'll tell you initially that you got 1000 (and your account balance will go up by 1000). If you log out and log in again, you'll see that you only got 500.

Still an easy 1000! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I did my two updates this morning and received a combined total of 1,000 points. After I made the changes and clicked save, a window popped up indicating that I received 1,000 points; however, when I checked the activity only 500 posted.

My guess is that Hilton forgot to update the pop-up window to reflect the 500.

I had the same result as TTT103 ... 2 posts for 500 points each totaling 1000 points.

It may have said that when you did it but if you log out and log back in you'll find that you were only given 500 points for each of two updates for a total of 1000 additional points/account.

I got 500 HHonors points twice, and then I updated my wife's HHonors account and she received 500 HHonors points twice. Give me 500 HHonors points each time and I'll make sure I come back to the HHonors site at least twice a quarter. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Has anyone had any luck in trying to re-claim the extra 1,000 points thru HHonors Cust. Serv.?

I think Hilton has made it perfectly clear that 1,000 is the limit per calendar quarter. If I were you, I wouldn't waste your time...I can almost guarantee you they won't be giving anyone an extra 1,000 pts....

I actually had a legitimate update to do! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
Last week I changed my PIN to try to get 1000 points, but I got zilch. Then I kept entering my old PIN by force of habit on the phone & having to do it all over. So I changed back to my old standard PIN today.
Then I closed my browser, re-logged in & did a not-so legitimate update for the 2nd 500: I changed my bed pref from K to DD. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I agree that 2k was too generous, but I would have recommnded a change to max 1 bonus of 1000.

They have made it very clear that yo uget 1,000 points once per quarter, if you complain they will probably take away all the extra you have gotten over the years. They have also made it very clear that you now get 500 per update, twice per quarter.

I am guessing they just forgot to take down the pop up with the 1,000 points mentioned, but complaining and having them look at your account will probably generate a loss.

I guess on the theory that the popup said you were given 1000 points twice but you only got 500 points twice.

IMHO don't look a gift horse in the mouth...

Although 2,000 points were nice each quarter, I wouldn't complain about the 1,000. Hilton could easily turn it into zero if they knew that some of us updated twice today, and will do the same Jan. 1. Let's be happy we're getting 1,000 and leave it at that. It's a heck of a lot better than the zero points I get from Starwood for updating. Of course, I much prefer the Starwood program to HHonors.

As of the evening of October 1, the Hilton web site seems to have been corrected and "fixed" to accomodate the reduced-level giveaway. After updating, the pop-up box now says...

Thank you for updating your profile online!

In appreciation, we've awarded 500 bonus points to your account. (Members may earn a maximum of 1,000 Hilton HHonors profile update bonus points per calendar quarter.)

...and then only 500 points is added to the account each time.

I think that is way too funny. I pretty much guarantee a ton of Hilton people sit around today looking at either a realtime traffic monitor on the screen, or the web site statistics, and get a huge laugh watching everybody go for the points the minute they are available.

They have to love it "These guys have like 90 days to do this, yet they all have to get in today". Four times a year I bet their web traffic is probably 10 or 20 times what it was the day before.
