bmi diamond club - Seat Requests on UA/AC sectors with a DC reward booking

Can anyone help please?

I have a UA flight LHR-IAD in F and IAD-BOS in C early in August for me and Mrs bmiGold.

We then come back a few days later BOS-YHZ in Y (an AC Jazz flight so only Y) and then YHZ-LHR in C.

DC staff tell me they can't book specific seats, and UA say I have to do it with the travel agent I booked with (never mind it wasn't a travel agent - they say bmi should do it...).

I've looked on checkmytrip and there are no allocated seats, but when I look on UA's website at the seat selector if I pretend to book more seats on the LHR-IAD sector, we have got 1J and 2J I guess (as they are the only F seats booked on that flight...), which is not what we want travelling together - we would rather have 1E&1F we think.

Does anyone know how to get seat allocations done?

Thanks for your help if you do!

I made an F award reservation through BMI on a UA flight this week. I called the UA general booking line - 0845 8444777 - and they made the seat allocation for me with no problem. Seems like you just got the wrong operator.

Good luck!

For UA: phone United on 1-800-538-2929 (Skype is good). When you get the auto-robot trying to guide you through the menus just say "AGENT" loudly. You will be asked whether you said AGENT? Say YES and you will be put through to a real person. What they need to identify your booking is the 6-character United booking locator - this is different from the PNR that bmi give you but does show up as an "airline confirmation number" in the "your flight selection" section if you check your trip using checkmytrip. They will be able to allocate seats for you.
