Hmmmm. I wonder whether it is new "benefit" of Hilton Diamond Club. As far as I know the dining benefit includes all Hilton properties in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. I got 50% of for dining two persons at Nogoya Hilton. My Diamond Club card issued at Seoul Hilton. My membership card came with a "Book of privileges" that contains 50% off rack rate coupons x 6, a special one time rate certificate for Hilton hotel in Asia, a special one time rate certificate for Australian Hilton hotel, a complimentary executive floor upgrade, and a complementary junior suite upgrade plus one free night stay coupon and two health club (including sauna) coupons.

Still think this is one of the best deals around.
Just had fabulous seafood dinner at the Sydney Airport hilton for $A42 and also had a voucher for a free bottle of wine. so the whole meal for 2 was $A42.
Will be using my free night on the last stand for the Sydney hilton on 28th nov.
Anyone wants to join I have a direct email for them.

Just make sure you join with the right hotel The free night deal is only valid at the hotel to whoch your membership is attached - otherwise your free night will cost you A$50 if you want to redeem it at another Hilton in Australia. It took me quite some time to get my membership relocated to my local Hilton sine that is where I want to take my free nights.

Thanks. The situation is this:
1) We're not frequent travellers to Australia.
2) Will be arriving SYD on a Monday AM in a few weeks. Hope to go to PER same day (award tickets are for next day that QF probably will not allow us to change from what I hear).
3) If we don't go on to PER same day, we'll stay overnight at the Grace. Got a $199 rate right now. Otherwise we won't be staying there this year and will only be staying at the PER property otherwise (2 nights at $125-130/weekend night).
Will it do me any good?

Just got back from a wonderful stay at the Grace Hilton, I had booked the AUD 198 rate thought Hilton on the winter special rate, and found upon arrival that they had a promotion for AUD 398 for two nights, which included free parking and full breakfast buffet (parking normally $30 a day for hotel guests). The bottom of the Promo said for Australia residents only, but gave it to me anyway, plus gave me a 20% discount on the promotion for being diamond, which was a great deal for a nice hotel in a fabulous location. I also booked a second room as a diamond on the winter special (it was only for one night) and received fruit platter and water, plus free continental breakfast, only $9 extra to upgrade to full buffet if we wanted, but they even told us not to worry, gave us full anyway. They were very accomodating, gave us an upgrade on the one room which was large and spacious (on the diamond upgrade, wouldn't upgrade the promo), and we had a marvelous time. Don't forget to tour the harbor, and for the best views go to the zoo (a stop on the Captain Cook harbor cruise). Have a great trip!

Oct 13, 04, 4:33 am
It is 20% off food and beverage. If you want to join let me know as I am a member. I have already saved my joining fee with 3 stays at BNE hilton and CNS hilton.
Add this to HH gold/diamond and you have a sweet deal.

Oct 13, 04, 4:54 am
As IainF correctly stated, the dining benefit is 20% discount on total food and beverage when charged back to the room account when staying at a hotel.
If you're not staying at the hotel, but wish to go there for a meal, the following discounts apply:
Member dining alone – 25% off total food (excl. beverages)
Member and guest (2 people) – 50% off total food (excl. beverages)
Member and 2 guests – 33% off total food (excl. beverages)
Member and 3 guests – 25% off total food (excl. beverages)
Member and 4 guests – 20% off total food (excl. beverages)
I must admit that I pocket most of my savings through the discounted accomodation, but it is handy when dining at the hotel, even if you're not staying there.
Hope this helps.

What accommodation discount benefits does this club generally provide compared to the published rates online? Does members get a special promotion code to use at Hilton.com or does one have to call a special Diamond Club number to get this discount?
I found a list of participating hotels at diamondclub.ro, is it possible to join this club online or only at one of these hotels? How much is a one year membership?
A lot of questions :)

I have always received the abovementioned discount for dining, irrespective of whether I am staying at the hotel or not. I am not aware of the "20% off food and beverage" when staying at a hotel, but since my card is issued in Kuala Lumpur the rules could be very different to that issued in Australia.

Oct 13, 04, 6:45 pm
Its not Hilton Diamond status, but there is a club (in Australia and some other countries) called Hilton Diamond Club that requires a fee (annual?) for which you receive discounts at local Hiltons.
At least that's my understanding.

From what I remember of the Korean package, there was one valuable free night coupon, a vad of less useful 50% off coupons (usually came out to about the same as the lowest rates available on hilton.com, but better on high occupancy days), and a few exec floor and junior suite upgrade coupons.
IIRC there was no special promotion code, and reservations were made by phone directly with the hotel.
No idea about the membership cost as those coupons were gifted by my host, whose secretary handled the bookings.
The list of participating hotels on the site you mention appears to be specific to cards issued in that country.

Not quite,as the Diamond Club is totally independent of HHonors; infact even the special rates stays do not qualify for stay credit with HHonors.

That has not been my experience. My 50% off coupon and Diamond Club rate stays whether booked on line or through Diamond Club office have all credited fully.

Either you have been very lucky or that they have changed the rules.
I first used the voucher 3 years ago and didnt get a stay credit. I enquired with Hilton call centre in SIN and they confirmed that my stay didnt qualify. Since then I wasnt expecting any stay credit and didnt check whether I have been credited for a stay.
However, they may have changed the rules when they allowed stay credit for award stays.

I also got full credit for my nights at the Diamond Club rates in 2002/03, but that may have been due to the way the hotel reported those nights, which were part of a longer stay.
I believe the primary interest of the Diamond Club, at least in Asia, is for local business people to get discounts at higher-end hotel restaurants, which are the venue of choice to entertain guests in that part of the world, unlike say Europe or North America.
The hotel benefits, which tend to be very limited geographically, are just a nice bonus.

The "ineligible" stay 3 years ago was for a one night stay at the Hilton Hanoi Opera after a side trip to Halong Bay. If I had used the voucher for 1 night on the "special" rate and subsequent nights on "non-special" rate, I would most probably have qualified for a stay.
I would be interested to know if those who had a stay credit, actually stayed just one night on the special rate without subsequent nights on "eligible" rates.
BlondeBomber
Oct 14, 04, 10:15 am
All my DC rate or 50% rate stays were standalone, ie not combined with full rate stays.
I would have to check my folios but I think I had one or two stays without any extra room charges. Could be that I have always had a room charge which kicked in the credit.

Each of my DC rate / 50% rate stays posted fully as well--no extra room charges and they were standalone nights.

Hi all,
I recently joined the Hilton diamond club in australia thanks to Ozstamps.
Can i check with you guys if the diamond club is valid only at Hilton hotels not at Conrad or other Hilton Family hotels? I really was of the impression taht you could use any of the certs at any Hilton property under the Hilton Family.
Secondly, does anyone here know if being diamond club also means you can earn HHonor points with the certs??? if so how?? i remembered taht you could but i though i check with you guys on teh current stance..
Lastly, for thsoe of use that choose to attach to the new Sydney Hilton, are we supposed to get a card taht says founding member or somethign to that extent?? i remember reading about and mentioning it to the club staff but no response??
Any advise offered is much appreciated.
Thanks

I jsut made booking for next week in Melbounre. I phoned the Diamond club (or whatever they call themselves now) and try to use the 20% discount. They said you can only use the 20% discounts based on HILTON published promotional rates,ie. not wotif.com.au, travlofity, qantas.com etc....
I thought you can use whatever published promotional rates you find and then just take 20% off?

We stand behind the claim that "no one will ever be entitled to a better rate than a Hilton Premium Club member".

Hi all,
i need help
im staying at the Hilton Auckland from 1 jan to 3 jan. The problem is this. I made the reservation as 2 seperate reservations as the rates differ on each night. The first night, the sydney call centre staff offered the hilton online only rate which is non-refundable less 20% which is fair enough for the first night.
Im having problems with the second night. When i called the sydney reservation folks for the second night, i was told they cannot input the rate found on wotif.com and asked for me to contact Hilton Auckland directly to check if they will honour the wotif.com rate.
when i called Hilton Auckland earlier today the guy nader said no he cannot do it as rates booked thru hotel directly is controlled by hotel revenue department as henceforth, the room allocations are different and their databases are different from the hilton worldwide reservation folks and so on.
Could i ask you folks whether there is any way i could get the Hilton Auckland folks to honour the wotif.com rate for 2nd jan 2006. The rate on wotif.com is 332 and the rate on hilton.com is AUD365, before the 20% diso.....
Apppreciate your kind assistance

Dear fellow international flyertalkers,
some of us Australian Based flyertalkers are currently contemplating on joining the hilton premium club. The discount programme formerly known as Hilton Diamond Club is predominantly helpful if you utilise Australian/New Zealand Hilton properties. The programme does however ALSO ALLOW access to Hilton corporate rates for Asia Pacific Region. I and one other flyertalker are currently compiling the full list of interested joinees, should you be interested, please refer to the following thread under the Qantas airlines forum.
Instructions on what to do and what the programme entails are listed there.
note to moderators; This thread is set up to attract attention to another thread within flyertalk as most flyertalkers would choose to visit only certain forums, not all.
1) If I book a non-refundable rate online, will they discount 20% off my room rate when I check-out ?
or do I have to book directly with the hotel to qualify for the 20% discount ?
2) Am I entitled to the 20% discount if I book the Amex Pay 2 Stay 3 package which is already heavily discounted ?
Thanks.

YES and YES
even if u prepay the rate on the hilton site on checkout they MUST refund the 20%. Sydney denied this earlier on in the year so I called the supervisor and fimnally she agreed that they ahd to take the 20% off the prepaid rate.
and yes u get it off the amex rate makes it a good deal eh?
the only rate u do not get it off is the $125 sydney rate which it states on the promo email.

The one sold in Australia only mentions hotels in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji (see http://www.wishlist.com.au/Product/ProductDetail.asp?SKUID=116492 for some details).
The Malaysian club (the link posted previously), does not list Australian hotels (see http://www.hilton-premiumclub.com/participating/index.htm for participating hotels).
While they may choose to grant benefits in other regions this is certainly not in the terms of either program (and given the cards all look the same this could happen). One problem is the advertised discounts are different between the programs.

When I last renewed my membership last year, the Asia Pacific list of participating properties included Australia and New Zealand (there is also a separate list for Europe, Middle East and Africa). I still have in my possession a voucher (expiring at the end of this month) for special room rate in Australia and New Zealand.
The splitting of the programme into different zones must have taken place after I renewed my card last year.

Hmm, the Australia/NZ program is quite specific in only covering 9 hotels in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, although now that you mention it, maybe in the past it did cover some parts of SEA. Other programs such as the one by Starwood and Accor certainly cover AU/NZ and SEA.

Dear FTs,
Since the opening up of the renovated Hilton Sydney, I am interested again in joining the club again. (I was in the Diamond Club way before the Sydney Hilton get renovated).
I received a cold call from the club yesterday asking me (the previous Diamond Club member) to renew the membership at A$275 (12 + 1 month bonus) with a A$99 /night gift card to saty in a A$520 room in Sydney Hilton, plus the ordinary extras!
I am not really happy as I just done a search on the google and noted that Bigpond (ISP by Telstra in Australia) is actually offering (12+3 months membership) at the same rate! So being a previous loyalty member in the Daimond do NOT offer any extra benefits.
Any comment and news from the club in 2007?
I read some posts from ozmail in 2006 and I have emailed him for some guidance.

I use it; I have a 'partner/joint' account with another FTer @$205 each for 12 months.
That "AUD99 is a single night stay in any of the participating Hiltons in Oz and NZ. IMO Best value is AKL where it turns into a NZD113 stay where it's rarely less than NZD300.
I can often get SYD hilton usinh the HPC the 20% for around $200.

Only once did they refuse to post my stay credit/points and I believe it was a stay in Hanoi several years ago. I still believe it was a mistake by HHonors .......

I presume there will be no HHonors points earned if you saty using the HPC member discount. Is that true?Full HHonors points and stay credits with the 20% discount. Even true for non-refundable rates.
The 20% discount is valid for off all rates available via the Hilton Family websites and Hilton phone bookings. This includes any nonrefundable rates that are available from Hilton websites or Phone agents.
It is for participating hotels on Australia and New Zealand.
I see a rate online, then I call the listed HPC Oz 'phone number during Australian Business hours - this way you get US based agents familiar with HPC.

In my experience when booking online the hotel will either adjust it (I did my ozFest this way and my advance purchase rates were adjusted before they charged my Credit Card). If not, I have them adjusted at checkout (the one time it happened)

So it would be good to have HHonors points even using the PC 20% off bookings.
Anywhere I can see the detailed benefits of the HPC ?
Is the dinning offer at 50% off if only 2 go for a dinner?

This year the basic 2007 HPC "membership pack" gives:

These come in the form of plastic cards with a magnetic strip. No specific printed rates on the "Welcome to Hilton" one.
Nicely packaged in a small wallet with your member card, and the above 3 cards.
With this are the T&C's; here are some excerpts:
20% off all published consumer accommodation rates, weekend and seasonal rates, when booked via Hilton channels including Hilton Reservations Worldwide, Hilton.com, through the Hilton premium Club Service center or to the Hotel. ...
20% discount on the following items provided they are charged to your hotel room account, - restaurants and bars (including alcohol and other beverages); - breakfast; - room service; - telephone charges; - laundry and dry cleaning; - mini-bar; - faxes; and - in-house secretarial services. ... 3rd party sites such as Wotif & Lastminute do not qualify for the discount.
There's a bit more on the Dining benefits as already posted; you may dine as a non guest at a participating Hilton Hotel restaurant and receive 20% of the total F&B bill. (Min $50, max 10 diners)
