AirTran Airways A+ Rewards - Business Class upgrade from Special Internet fare?

I've read that the $40-$80 BC upgrade is available per segment. Has anyone else been able to upgrade from the Special Internet fare? I paid $79 for BOS to MCO and then upgraded to BC for an extra $60.00. Is this standard or was there a screw up?
I'm not complaining :) but with all the rules on other airlines and fare classes, I would have thought that at least the special internet fare would not qualify. Let me know about your experiences!

This is one of the great things about AirTran...any fare can be upgraded. Upgrades are $40-60 depending on the flight (generally determined by length in my experience). So nope, no screw-up...you just got a spectacularly great deal!
AirTran does not have screwy pricing that makes no sense in reality. One way fares without a return ticket are not marked up, nor does AirTran price you up for not having a Saturday night stay like many legacies. And you can also connect through "non-hub" airports for the same price, which can be awfully convenient. For example, from Boston, if you were going to say Fort Lauderdale, AirTran would let you choose to connect through Atlanta, Baltimore, or Newport News, all for the same price...can't say the legacies are letting you do that, can you?

It's part of a promotion they've been running for a long time. From their website:
Upgrade Promotion
Currently, as a special promotion, for the amounts listed above, you may upgrade from any fare class on a first come, first served basis. Passengers using online check-in may request an upgrade from the agent at the departure gate. Passengers using ByePass Check-In kiosks at the airport may upgrade at the kiosk based on availability.

It seems pretty inconsistent to me that the upgrade charge is per segment, but you only get 1 A+ credit for a connecting flight.

Seems like it's been a permanent promotion. I've bought Web Fares and upgraded many times.

That is the drawback to the A+ program is their "credit" system. I'd like to see them have a "graduated" credit system based on flight length.
