Hilton HHonors - DD almost spoiled a vacation - maybe.

I made a reward reservation in February for a stay in June. The rooms showed as available on the website. I called the DD to make the reservations. The CSR wasn't the sharpest tool in the drawer, but everything appeared fine on the emails I received. At the time, I was short a few thousand points, so I didn't request the certs.

I called yesterday to request the certs. The CSR that helped me seemed more sure of herself. She apologized for the length of the process. She said that the system was running slow and the person who booked my reservations had not done a thorough job and she was having to enter data that should have been there already. At one point, she asked me for a CC#. She said that the property was sold out and they were likely to have canceled my reservations without a CC# on the transaction.

OMG. Would this have happened? I'm stunned at what might have transpired. I'm feeling a little more agreement with those who have claimed a deterioration at the DD. I only use them for award travel and nothing like this has ever happened. I should thank Hilton Honors for the sharp lady who fixed things and I wish I knew the name of the clod who almost ruined my vacation.

I had that happen to me a few years back. Booked an award stay in January for the Langham Hilton for late September. Was bringing my sister to London for her first trip overseas; gave her a F airline ticket as a present.

Just before heading to AMS in early Sept for a trade show, called re: the ressie for some reason. Turns out the original agent had totally bollocked up the reservation every which way but loose. I went nuts. Told them to get it sorted out, that I wasn't going to have the vacation ruined especially since I had booked it several months in advance & had the confirmation & all the details were appropriate.

The lady I talked to called the Langham & had the Langham call me in AMS. I told the reservation agent at the Langham what happened, & she sorted it all out. Actually got a gorgeous room, and the trip went great.

But still...if I hadn't called to check on something I wouldn't have known there was a problem until we arrived in London.
