Haven't been for a few years, but when I used to go there I stayed at the Hilton on the south end of the beach on Tumon Bay. There was a Hyatt mid-beach, and a Westin up on the northern side that may have been a Nikko IIRC in the mid-late 90's.

I've moved this post from the Japan forum into Other Asia. As the OP notes, Guam is not part of Japan (and hasn't been since 1944).

I encourage the OP to search in the hotel forums as well as getting advice here. Here is a scathing review (http://flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=669647) of the Westin Guam.

Senior Moderator I think it's easy to give the entire island of Guam a scathing review. You won't like the Hilton either..........

Kind of depends exactly what you're looking for. The properties I've stayed at on Guam include:
Westin Guam: Central location, one of Guam's relatively "newer" properties. Usually expensive, but managed to get a good rate once. Enjoyed my stay.
Hilton Guam: Older property, getting rather frayed around the edges. Prices usually reasonable. A little removed from the "action." Have always been upgraded to one of the club floors w/lounge access as a Gold.
Marriott Guam: OK. Was given a high floor on request. Using a BonusBucks coupon made it an inexpensive stay.
Pacific Islands Club: Great if you have little kids. Wished the Clubmates would leave me alone instead of trying to involved everybody in all the activities.
Ohana Oceanview: Cheap, but ants all over the place. Wouldn't stay here again.
Onward Beach Resort: Again a good place for kids. Rooms nothing special. A little isolated as it's not on Tumon Bay.
Santa Fe: Small and inexpensive, but also not on Tumon Bay. Nice staff, not so nice ants.

Unless I run across a very good deal, my choice of place to stay would have to be the Hilton, mainly for the club floor upgrade.

Has anyone stayed at the new Sheraton Laguna Resort yet?

Any comments on location, service, and restaurants?

thanks,

Marc
