South - The Bourbon Orleans??

Does anyone know of any good hotels in New Orleans? I'm looking around for places close to the French Quarter, and came across a hotel called The Bourbon Orleans - does anyone know what the accomodations are like there? Any sort of feedback would be welcome.

Tripadvisor most likely has some information on the property, check it out. However, do take the opinions expressed there with a pinch of salt, especially if there are only a handful of reviews.

In the French Quarter, Soniatt House is probably the best known property and it gets fairly uniformly good reviews. A pretty good listing of NO hotels can also be found at:

The W FQ, W New Orleans and Ritz Carlton are some of my favorite hotels in the city. Many friend's parents stayed at them this month for graduation and had good reviews all around.

Unless it's been renovated in the last 10 years (which I sincerely doubt), the Bourbon Orleans is a tired, old, rundown property.

I was just at the Hotel Monteleone for my buddy's wedding over Easter and it was really, really nice. All functions were at the hotel.

It's an older hotel but very well maintained. It's on Royal (one block from Bourbon) and about two blocks from Canal.

I've stayed many places in NOLA, and I'm a fan of Le Richelieu, particularly now that it has been renovated post-Katrina. It's a particularly good choice if you have a car. It has a nice, FREE parking lot.

Unless it's been renovated in the last 10 years (which I sincerely doubt), the Bourbon Orleans is a tired, old, rundown property.

It recently went through a $13 million renovation and is now a Wyndham property. I have walked past both during and after the renovation and it looks very nice. Also very conveniently located across the street from the home of Big Al Carlson, The Funky Pirate. I will be staying there this weekend and will report back.
