In the not too distant past, South African Airways (SA) announced that they would start flying to Buenos Aires, Argentina (EZE) this July. Then there was something about reviewing their network and then something about a code-share with MH.

Does anyone have the latest on this, i.e. whether or not SA are still planning to fly their own metal to EZE?

SAA are not planning on flying to EZE any longer. A friend of mine had booked a ticket on that route before it was pulled and is now trying to get SAA to sort it out - so far they've offered as far as GRU - but claim because they don't have any partnerships they can't get him onwards to EZE. He's demanding they still get him to EZE on the date he booked - so now they are talking to AR apparently about the connection.

The MH code-share isn't ideal as it is only 2-3 times per week that they fly.

But with SAA anything is possible and they could re-announce the route yet.

I wouldn't bet on that.

When SAA recently discovered they were going to have to announce a big loss for the year, all the new routes that had been announced (EZE, ORD, MUC and some african destinations) were shelved. I think I read a few days ago that the MUC route is on the cards again, but none of the others look like they are going to survive for now.

MUC has not been cancelled (and they never planned to do so). It was the only route not chopped.
