EL AL Matmid - Fast food vouchers instead of lounge

Yediot runs a story today in its printed edition that for the past few weeks LY gave out $20 fast food restaurant vouchers to C pax instead of BA lounge vouchers in EWR. LY claims that the number of seats they are allowed to give in the BA lounge was limited and the vouchers were given as compensation. They said this procedure was stopped a few days ago.

I could not find any online version of this article yet.

There is talk on another thread here of that being the policy in JFK when it closes for 4 months of renovations sometime soon.
