A note of caution for those considering renting at MKE from Hertz.

I made a reservation for my father who is a Gold Club member, though a new one, so they had to verify his license and cc at the counter.

Rental was from 5/17 (a Thurs, after noon) thru 5/20, a 3 day weekend rental. Rates from competitors were running in the $10 to $11/day while Hertz was about $14-$15, but, we were using PC# 100936 that gave $35 off.

Total rental with tax for 3-days was supposed to be about $24, ridiculous, I know, but I don't set their pricing.

When my Dad went to pick it up, they presented paperwork showing the rate now at $33+ a day, but, they left the coupon in, bringing it to $79+ He showed the e-mail confirmation and they said it had changed... he was already delayed and didn't want to fight a reservation he hadn't made, so he accepted it and moved on.

We called national customer service # today and they refunded $60+, which brought the rental to below where it was supposed to be by about $5. They could not explain why this happened.

Seems like a flagrent case of gouging customers and dishonesty. As a side note, my father is 79 and it crosses my mind they may have just been taking advantage of someone they figured wasn't going to fight it.

Note of caution, MKE, even when presented with the confirmation didn't honor a valid rate. Double note of caution if you are a senior. :td:

But on the plus side it was corrected when you contacted customer service. That's something.
