I'm curious to see if fellow FT'ers and veterans of MR's turned bump runs can offer their input on a specific view of a MR.

I'm looking towards a weekend MR around hurricane season. I'm aiming to get a cheap fare to FL. Now, I understand the risk of hurricane season and all that wx related stuff... so I'm curious if FT'ers would actually take this as an opportunity.

My thought is that if there is a hurricane, you can probably cx or postpone the flight or reroute. If the timing is right, you may be on a flight that will be completely oversold and get a bump voucher or two out of it. If the timing is wrong, well, maybe stuck in a middle of a hurricane sleeping on the airport floor.

Obviously the primary goal is a MR, but could it be parlayed into a bump run... and more importantly, is it worth it vs. flying a cheap transcon to a less hurricane prone region?

Thoughts? Pros/cons?

EDIT: I am thinking maybe I should have posted to MR Discussion Forum instead... Mods, please move if appropriate... Thanks!
