Hey folks,
Since I kinda hijacked this thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=672509&page=2) regarding push email on a Nokia e61i, it sounds like I may need to try Blackberry service.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a hosting company? I want to be around or under $10.00/month and I need to forward 2 (work and personal) accounts to it.
I saw MailStreet (http://mailstreet.com/wireless/blackberry.asp?SOURCE=GOOGLE&KEYWORDS=BLACKBERRY+Hosting&promo_code=UPGRADE200) , come up as a top Google Ad...and I feel like I've heard of them before....
Anyone have any suggestions?

Looking at $20/month for this...

That does seem to be the going rate.
I gotta dump this e61i...
I pay $100/month for sprint with something like 1200 minutes and unlimited data/blackberry (including use as an EVDO modem).
So with Cingular I'm at $140/month for 9000 minutes (roll over is cool) and edge service + 200 sms messages, then I have to spend $20/month for email when I already run my own server...
I want to be able to use something other than a blackberry, I want a true mobile interent device, bu its just not there, at least in a working and affordable manner.

SpaceBass, have you tried IntelliSync?
Btw, I'm really sorry to hear that you're disappointed with the device. :(

Consilient (http://www.consilient.com/features/) is free (ad supported) or $5 a month (ad-free) if your phone is supported. Is an e61i the same as an e61?
It's not quite the same as BES, but I'm told it works pretty well.

We have had this discussion on another thread ;)
They dont have the same capabilities in the US as in Norway unless you pay for the syncing service. I love Nokias as phones but think as smart phones they are of limited utility in many user environments.

well I'm not disappointed across the board.... Like I keep saying, I want to like (and keep) this phone, but I cannot get email to work.
I just looked at intellisync and there are a few issues. 1) it requires a 12 month contract (thats just not cool for an email account) 2) it seems to require windows 3) its expensive at $17/month ... thats got me back up at $140 for what my EVDO blackberry did for $100...I just can't justify it, and I'm the guy with his own server farm, I can justify a LOT! :D
I looked at Consilient and it looks like a stop-gap...it will check my server for me via IMAP and "push" to their client software on the phone.... I'm not opposed, but again, its just not what I was looking for....not to mention that I'd have to break some rules at work for that to work.
The real problem is that I work for a fortune 15 company who is too cheap to give its Sr. consultants and project managers mobile devices so I go out of my way to do this stuff for my self....but thats another rant
Its not looking like there is a great way to make this thing work for me...and its killing me. I'm willing to compermise on all the other issues (the autocomplete, the phone number and url recognition, etc) if I could just get email to work.
I'm going to spend one more day in the forums for my email server to see if they have any suggestions on why IMAP IDLE won't work. But even if it did work, the built in client only downloads headers and not full messages.

Of course, if you do this, you can download a single-user copy of BES for free and run your own Exchange and Blackberry servers.

You know I just spent like 5 months ridding myself of any MS software including retiring my two 2003 DCs and Exchange server...
Does BES require exchange, I thought it was standalone for some reason...and I really didn't know there was a single user version for free!

Except for running an abortion of a messaging platform on an unstable OS, of course.
*throw OS bigot hat into sand and draws a line.....*

I saw MailStreet (http://mailstreet.com/wireless/blackberry.asp?SOURCE=GOOGLE&KEYWORDS=BLACKBERRY+Hosting&promo_code=UPGRADE200) , come up as a top Google Ad..I use (but didn't choose) MailStreet with BES service. I haven't had any significant issues; others in my shop complain loudly about them (but then, who doesn't hate his mail service?)
I usually get messages delivered to the handheld within fifteen seconds of them showing up in a desktop client. Usually, the handheld dings first.
