Hi everyone
TFL are giving away free oyster cards:
https://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/tickets/oysteronline/freeoyster/sign-up.asp

They can take up to 28 days to deliver (not sure how long it will actually take).
I don't know if this will work if one lives abroad.

Unfortunately #6 of the Terms and Conditions state:
The offer is open to residents in the UK only

Shucks.

Still a very good promo (and a saving of £3 is never bad - there's a pint in that!).

Limited 1 per household - and the card is registered for you - so if you loose it, you can get the credit back on it.

I ordered on in the first week of may - arrived on friday 18th if it helps!

I posted this a couple of weeks ago:
Free Oystercard available to residents
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/tickets/oysteronline/freeoyster/

Just fill the details here - they'll send it to your home.

Only 100,000 available

(If you have one already you may need to enter another name/address to qualify)

Always good to have another handy for when visitors come.

Nothing has come through the post.:(

I'll let you know if it arrives. EDIT TO ADD: got ours through the post today.

Having been over in Lon this past weekend and having always used the OFF-peak day Travelcard I finally got the Oyster Card. Even with a minor 3GBP (refundable) deposit it is worth it. You will always pay 50P less then the equivalent day travel card. I had 4.60 deducted for 6 rides and an equivalent day travel card would have been 5.10 PLUS you feel like a real Londoner.....

It is also alot quicker to use an oyster card (to touch in/out) than a paper ticket.

You'd be surprised how EASY it is to get the refund.....
