Hertz - The Great Coupon Debate...

Very irritating and want answers!!!

When do you show the coupon? At pick up or at drop off?

Rented from RIC 5 times in the last month.

-First time, asked at Pick-up and not at drop off.
-Second time, never asked at all for it.
-Third time, never asked at all for it.
-Fourth time, asked at pick-up and not at drop off.
-Fifth time, asked at drop-off and not at pickup.

This last time the person would not take my Hertz Gold Web Offer Coupon discount off. Never been asked at drop off before here. Can we get a standardized system per location at least?

Do I call billing Monday and will they take it off?
Also at RIC you cant request SAT radio or neverlost at reservation time online. So I ask for XM/Sirus when I pick up.

This time I got my Grand Prix GXP with the demo XM channels only.

Very irritated that i was charged 35 bucks more and had "faulty" XM.

Depends on the type of coupon, but a majority need to placed on the reservation. When you pick up the vehicle, show the agent the coupon letting them know that you do have it. Do it even if they don't ask for it. Then when you turn the vehicle in, hand them the coupon so they will take the amount off as they are closing the contract.

This is my major complaint with Hertz network wide. They do not have a reliable system for coupons in place, so often times they are charging me too much or not enough. On my past 5 rentals, ive sent 2 emails to CS regarding unapplied coupons. The next email I send will be to request more then just the coupon price back, as its starting to get ridiculous...

Check the fine print for the offer. It may want you to give a cdp#, pc# or even a rate code to the reservation agent.

Hertz does not offer XM for purchase, so even if it had worked, you should call the 800 number and have them remove the charge. IAD tried that one on me once.

Don't know if your aware, but your coupon expires tomorrow. But if it was still good, all you need to do is make the advanced reservation using the right PC code.

question: does the 2 car class upgrade require a physical coupon? i just used it when booking online and dont want to run into any problems. if so, where can i find a printout of it if possible.

Depends on the car, sometimes the XM is a "Sirius" substitute. For example, I rented a car from a HLE and added Sirius, what I received was a Honda Civic with XM. Really made no difference to me.

Gotta love it. Instead of just honoring the coupon at return, they make me spend 45 minutes to call and wait to get it taken off and get an extra 5 bucks off to boot. The rental was only 25 bucks for the weekend so that was good for that GXP Grand Prix I got.

Please Hertz, dont ask for coupons at return. We have more important things to worry about at that time. Check them at pick up if you must.

When I use coupons, I have it at pickup, and always ask they staple it to the rest of the junk so it's there when I drop it off, but most times it's in the rate on the paperwork and not needed at the end. If it was up to me to keep track of it, not a chance it would be found.
