Starwood Preferred Guest - Sheraton Sunnyvale or W Silicon Valley for Shoreline Amphitheatre Concert?

I am booked at Sheraton Sunnyvale which is right next to Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, but I noticed that W Silicon Valley (which is significantly further away) has a sale this weekend so I could get a suite there for the same price.
I have comped plat status so I was thinking my upgrade at W Silicon Valley might be more significant (that is, if I can get an upgrade on a starpick rate).
Which would you choose?

I have stayed at both hotels and I think they are both good, depending on what you are looking for. The Sunnyvale Sheraton is close to both Mountain View and Sunnyvale, which have great resturants. I personally prefer Mountain View (Cascal, Tiedhouse, Cantankerous Fish). You can even take the lightrail, which is right down the road from the Sunnyvale Sheraton to Mountain View. It is about a 10 minute ride to downtown Mountain View. The "W", while nice, is remote, surrounded by office complexes. However, the service is great and the rooms well appointed. If you are into the nature thing, there is a great nature preserve across the street. Also, it is in a great area for cycling, though I am not sure if they offer bikes at the "W". I think the Sunnyvale Sheraton is a good choice, you will probably get upgraded either way because it is the weekend.

Although the W is in a dismal location, it is a dramatically better hotel than the Sunnyvale Sheraton. Better rooms, service, food, everything. I go to that area 1-2 times a month and stay at the W, despite the extra miles.

Thanks for the replies. I cancelled the Sheraton and booked the W for $4 less :p
The drive is short but we are only staying one night only so I figured I would try out the W.

I'd recommend the Westin Palo Alto. The W's location bodes it to some pretty funky smell...definitely not good if you've got ladies with you. However, once you get to the rooms everything appears to be OK. That walk can be painful, though...

The Sheraton Sunnyvale is in the process of a room refurbishment at the moment. I stayed there last weekend (May 12th) for $59 (advance purchase rate). The new rooms are fairly nice with new carpet, furniture, flat panel TV (with usual crappy analog cable selection) and a renovated bathroom with granite countertop and subway style tiles in the bath (mediocre shower pressure). Plats get free breakfast on the weekend (due to the CL being closed). Note that the photos on the SPG website are of the old rooms.
I have stayed at the W numerous times and agree the location is not the best, but the W bed is still great as are the Bliss products, spacious rooms (not really true suites, more like studio/Jr suites) and view of the ducks.
any recent stays at this property. will he heading there next weekend.
