Hertz - Herz would not honor earned free rental day coupon

I had a single day rental last night from IAD. On my reservation, my car worked out to be about $10 because I input my Earned Free Rental Day coupon online. When I turned the car in today, Hertz would not honor the Coupon as a free rental day, but instead only took 20% off for a total of about $19.40 off. The clerk who I turned the car into told me that there was no such thing as a free rental day coupon. I showed it to him and he persisted. I explained to him that the coupons are mailed out by Hertz and this was not some sort of internet coupon print out. Unfortunately I was in a hurry and could not argue the point too long. So I guess I'll be stuck with composing a letter to Hertz on my flight. The bummer is that I turned in my coupon. Has anybody had any experience in getting another coupon from Hertz? Will they simply laugh at me?

That location was just being stupid. Contact Billing, more than likely they will have you mail the certificate in to get credit for that rental.

The OP said that he turned in his coupon, so he doesn't have it anymore to mail in.
I would have asked to speak to a more competent person, and if that didn't work, just fill out the contact form on Hertz.com.

I'm sorry, I must have misunderstood what he wrote. If the location didn't honor/refused or even stated there was no such coupon, even after proof, then he sould still have the coupon with him. IF the location did accept the coupon, then he needs to talk to the manager at the location. If the manager doesn't want to work with him then he needs to contact the billing dept to see if they will 'good will' adjust. IF he still has the coupon, then he needs to send it in.

I contacted billing while I was in the lounge at IAD waiting for my boarding. They refunded me the difference and said they would mail me another coupon. Billing said that the clerk's handheld computer did not have a current coupon database on it. So I think this may have worked itself out. We will see when I try my new coupon out in the future.
