I am traveling from GSO-CLT, CLT _LAX on US Airways then LAX-BNE , stopping in Auckland. I learned today that US can't give me boarding passes for Air New Zealand. I am scheduled to land at 8 19 in LAX in terminal 1. I assume that I will now have to go to the Air New Zealand ticket counter and check in. Will I have time? THe flight is at 10:30. I am Star Alliance Gold so is their a preferred line? Or better yet, a way to get through security to get boarding passes in the lounge? I understand that my bags will be checked all the way to BNE.
Help please! I am worried.

thanks !!!

Are you on separate tickets or same ticket?

If same ticket then US should be able to check you in, as long as the NZ flight is open for remote check in.

At LAX NZ uses T2 right next to T1. *G can use the business check in line. You must check in landside or at prior airport to get airside in T2.

Enjoy the very nice NZ lounge.

Thank you. Evidently I am on a separate ticket but the same itinerary - That seems odd to me but it was much cheaper that way so I guess there is no avoiding the ground check in. I figure 20 minutes to get to the AZ ticket counter annd hopefully no more than a 20 minute wait there and at security, and I will still have a few minutes in the lounge ; )

AZ is Alitalia, NZ is Air New Zealand.

From T1 to T2 should only take 5 minutes tops (with through checked bags or carry on only). You don't have immigration to deal with and the terminal is right next door.

Check in may take a while depending on loads.

Security will probably be the biggest time suck - on bad days it can take an hour.

Did you book as GSO-BNE? If so then all on one ticket despite having different PNRs, which is due to the different CRS used by US and NZ, and likely fare construction as GSO-LAX and LAX-BNE. It is only if you bought it as 2 separate tickets that they will be separate. Does this make sense?

I think you'll be OK, as the bags will be checked through and at worst you'll need to pick up boarding passes... we do that all the time transferring from UA domestic to NZ....

Being *G should make it faster anyway... I THINK there is a dedicated check in....

They appear to be separate tickets. Both NZ and US have told me that I can't get NZ boarding passes. Please tell me I just have to go to Terminal 2 to go to the ticket counter. I was looking at an LAX map and it looked like I might have to go to the main terminal.

At LAX NZ uses T2, as I said above.

ok- thanks. I just wanted to make sure you could check in there- that it just wasn't gates. It's been a long time since I have been to LAX.
thanks again for your help. I think if nothing goes awry we will be fine!
I am looking forward to the trip . It's work for me but a little vacation for the BF so let's hope for the best!

Thanks so much for everyone's help. I got checked into Brisbane and made the connections easily. No trouble on the way back either.

Thanks again.
