Hilton HHonors - Will I get airline double dip credit for a reward stay?

I need one more partner activity in Delta's current promotion to have another 5 unique partners. I have a reward stay coming up next week and am wondering if I would get Delta miles if I changed my double dip option from points and points to either points and variable miles or points and fixed miles.
As is clearly noted in HHonors T&Cs (http://hhonors1.hilton.com/en_US/hh/terms.do), reward stays do not earn frequent flyer miles (bolded emphasis is mine):
1. HHonors Members may receive frequent flyer mileage credit for qualifying stays as defined in items 6 and 11 under Accrual of Points. Miles may be earned without taking a flight. You can earn 500 miles (or equivalent) per stay at Hilton, Conrad, Doubletree, Embassy Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Hilton Grand Vacations Club and The Waldorf=Astoria CollectionTM* hotels, and 100 miles (or equivalent) per stay with select partners at Hampton Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites, Homewood Suites by Hilton**, and Scandic hotels. Members will not earn airline frequent flyer mileage credit for HHonors hotel reward stays.

Thanks. I was looking in the wrong section of the T&Cs.

But, if you change your earnings style to "points and points" before your award stay, you will get the additional points on incidentals.

So that wouldn't also apply to points and variable miles, where I would get miles per dollar spent? Now that I read them again, the way the T&Cs are written, it seems to apply only to points and fixed miles because it only mentions 500 miles per stay.

I would take the bolded portion at face value and assume that they mean exactly what it says -- that no miles will be earned, period. HHonors even doesn't give miles if you have one paid room and one award room on the same folio, so I don't see that they would be flexible with variable miles rather than fixed.

I've never tried to variable miles thing, but I'd be stunned if Nako was wrong (about this or anything else HHonors related).
Just do points and points and forget about it.

My understanding and experience with award stays is you get points for incidentals and will get points if it's your myway preference.

So I guess my idea won't work. I'll have to figure some other way to get miles from another unique DL partner.

I don't get DL points for my Hilton stays. But to get the unique partner I transfered HHonor points to Delta. Problem solved.

What is interesting is that I have received Miles on an award stay!

Does it happen occasionally? Yep. Would I count on it happening every time? Nope. Would I rely on it happening when I need one more partner activity for DL promo? No way! ;)
