Frontier has made their DOT application to start flying to Costa Rica! http://dmses.dot.gov/docimages/p101/469160.pdf

Frontier employees have reported the flight will be going to/from SJO.

...didn't see anything about this subject posted on the boards, so forgive me if someone has already broke the news.

This would be awesome and might actually be a good route for F9. SJO is under-served and under-appreciated from western states. LIR might even be a good choice. Although I'm not opposed to making a connection, the nonstop option will be nice.

I would be very happy to see a PTY tag segment from SJO. Panama is booming and I bet there would be a lot of traffic DEN-PTY direct.

I wonder if it'll be the same as Mexico with regards to 25k miles for a free ticket.

There isn't a substantial airfare difference in flying to MEX vs CR, so hopefully it will be 25K. Less complication if it's 25K across the board for all int'l travel.

Not so fast...I would prefer to keep Canada at 15K! ;)

I sure hope they start flying to SJO. Except for the NWA Jumbo, prices have been at the $400-$500 range for too long! Ah, I love fare wars. :)

What a great intro fare. Also double miles. I do see the trip will require 35,000 ER awards, which is the standard rate for Central America. That's a little disappointing, but otherwise this is great news.
