I've just booked a long weekend in Nashville for myself and my gf.

We usually stay at Hilton hotels, but it looks to be fully booked.

Can anyone recommend a good hotel in a central locaton? I'd rather not spend any more than $200 per night.

Any if it's not asking too much I'd love to hear any recommendations for bars and restaurants.

Thanks

David

I usually stay at the Renaissance downtown, a block from all the restaurants and clubs. No specific reco.'s. You might try a search in the Marriott forum.

The Wyndham at historic Union Station is a bit different than your usual hotel. Most rooms are very large. The hotel is also close to most everything d'town. Have a great time!

For a bar/restaurant you might want to try the Wildhorse Saloon. It has some good food and a lot of good entertainment. And if you stay somewhere like the Wyndham mentioned above, I do believe you can walk to the Wildhorse.

Can you get a decent rate at the Gaylord? Wonderful hotel!

I haven't stayed at any Nashville hotels, but the Sheraton is in the middle of downtown, as is the Hilton and Renaissance.

Gaylord Opryland is somewhat out of the way, about a 10-15 minute drive from downtown but located immediately next to a mall and very nice movie theater. The hotel is very nice, great scenery, small waterfalls and tons of greenery, but overly priced in my opinion in both rooms and on-site dining. Best aesthetic value of any hotel in the US IMO. No "club" type bars nearby, but a couple small pubs possibly.

If you want the nightlife and bars/clubs/downtown atmosphere I suggest anything you can find near Broadway and between 2nd and 8th avenue.

I believe someone mentioned Union Station. Beautiful hotel and right in the same parking lot is a great bar...Flying Saucer. They have about every beer you can imagine...decent food and there tends to be live music on the weekends. Other hot non-downtown areas of Nashville are The Gulch (lots of dining options) and Demonbreun (right off of Music Row).

Thanks for the advice guys.

I booked the Renaissance. It looks nice on the website.

We are really looking forward to this trip. We got married in Florida last week. This will be kind of like a short honeymoon for us.

Cheers

Good luck and Congrats! I lived in the Nashville area for about 2 years. Downtown is great, nice atmosphere and plenty to do. They depend a lot on tourism as a source of revenue. For that reason it's well patrolled, with cleanliness and safety given priority.
