Hilton HHonors - Chicago O'Hare hotels - stay report
1) Airport Hilton. It appears that all the rooms at this hotel are the same size. However, as Diamond, was given a room on the top (HHonors) floor. Did appreciate this, as the HH floors tend to be quieter than other floors. No lounge. Room was nice, with a nice welcoming fruit basket, and coupons for two bottled waters. Nice stay after the ruckus of the airport. Had dinner at the noisier of the two restaurants (Andiamo), which also had the breakfast – given two vouchers for one morning, good for the “cold” breakfast, but could upgrade to the hot for $2.50/person.
We had a couple very minor problems with the room. I would have thought nothing of any of them, but did comment because there were several. Was taken care of very quickly and efficiently, and after returning home the manager called to apologize, and gave us some points that he hoped we would use “on a future stay” there. Very impressed with the customer service.
2) Hampton Inn at Schiller Park. This was a different trip, when I had some extra time, so thought I would save a few bucks. Was given terrible directions on how to reach the pick-up point from the arrivals area. Once there, had to wait 70 minutes for the shuttle! (I called twice during this wait, and was told each time “it’s on the way.’) No explanation given by the driver when he finally did show up, just shrugged it off. Complained to the desk clerk, but they didn’t seem to think this was a problem. Thumbs way down for this stay.
BTW, while waiting for this shuttle, the HGI shuttle came by FOUR times! Plan to try them next (if I don’t say at the airport Hilton).

Actually there are a couple of rooms on each floor that are bigger. I know room XX11 is one of them, because they usually give me 8011 or 9011. It is a "junior suite", but really just a regular room made longer because of the fire stairs. Ask for it next time. As a Diamond I usually get it.

Embassy Suites O'Hare - Rosemont
Recently updated rooms and conference rooms. Food is good and the staff is very attentive. This books quickly because of crew overnigts and when canceled flights are high. Non-smoking property with a starbucks kiosk in lobby. Decent bar. Shuttle vans every half hour without having to call.
I've held a couple of meetings there and my staff were pretty happy.

Correct I have spent a good amount of time at the O'hare Hilton and these rooms are bigger.

Ah, good to know, thanks!
Also, the ES optiohn mentiond above sounds like a fine off-site option.

Stayed at the Doubletree this week prior to an early morning flight to SFO. Strongly recommend - hotel staff very courteous, upgraded without request, hotel near restaurants, grocery, Woodfield mall. Complimentary shuttle took about 15 minutes to ORD (6 miles)

I have stayed in February at the ORD Hilton and as usual written a trip report with pictures and - as a new feature on my homepage - a short movie about the room
Could be found here (http://www.hotels-and-travel.de/hotelberichte/hilton/hote_chi_hn_ohare.htm)
The movie might takes some time to load ....

My experience was exactly the opposite, when staying at the Hampton twice and the HGI once within the space of a week in January (each time for one night only between flights). The Hampton Shuttle was fine on the first two stays. On my third stay, at HGI because it happened to be cheaper that night, the Hampton shuttle came past four times (coincidence?) while I was waiting in the cold and slush for the HGI. I called the hotel after an hour, and they told me it was on the way. It still took 25 minutes from my call to show up. :td::td::td: Total wait: almost an hour and a half. Since the HGI seems further from the airport, I don't think I'll be staying there again.
I agree that it's far from clear where you should pick up either shuttle, and the signage is useless, but that's not the hotels' fault.

The margarita pizza on the room service menu has to be the best* thin crust pizza I have eaten in my entire life :)

Don't forget the great corner rooms at O'Hare Hilton with views in two directions ^

We just stayed at the ORD Hilton and our stay was very different from the OP. We are diamond and had the room booked 2 weeks in advance. Arrived and were greeted with annoyance because we were disrupting the personal conversation of the 2 people on the front desk. Another guest arrived and inquired about the rack rate and was quoted a price of $20 less than we had booked at so we requested the lower rate. The clerk very reluctantly allowed the change. Acceptable room on the 10th floor - pretty generic Hilton in that regard. Coupon for 1 bottle of water (for 2 of us) and 1 breakfast. No welcome note or fruitbasket. In the morning we went back to get a second breakfast coupon and at least that clerk was pleasant. On to the breakfast - I'm sorry but cheaping out by only offering cold food p!sses me off. We were not told that we could upgrade to the hot by paying $2.50 more. It is probably a very minor thing but since we stay in Hilton's 200+ nights a year giving me cold cereal to pick from and a few dried out baked goods annoys me. When the manager asked us how we were doing we told him what we thought about it. He responded that they do that to keep the prices lower in the restaurant for everyone. I'm not impressed.... "everyone" isn't spending a whole bunch of money with Hilton every year and those that do should get at least some perks.
I wouldn't stay at this property again unless every other Hilton property in the area was booked full.... and even then I'd probably think twice about it. :td::td::td:
