South - Loft 523 in New Orleans?

Will be staying in NO for a few nights in September on a holiday trip. I had originally thought about staying at the Soniat House but are now leaning towards Loft 523 because of the modern design, large loft rooms, and high ceilings.
I'd be interested in hearing experiences from Loft 523 and/or comparisons with Soniat (even though they are rather different kinds of beasts).

If you don't get a response, check on tripadvisor.com - but most reviews there are pre-Katrina.

I do use Tripadvisor, but tend to take the information over there with a rather large pinch of salt, as it can be wildly off sometimes. I generally find FT members more informed, or at the very least, more in tune with my own preferences.

I agree - you can find just about any opinion you want on Tripadvisor. I've totally given up on that site.
