Hilton HHonors - Simultaneous Rewards

When my parents travel, they like to stay at Hilton properties and use my gold status (and I like to get the points). Anyways, they are going to be staying at a Homewood in Washington DC the same weekend I will be attending a conference in Las Vegas and staying at a Hilton. The check out dates are different. Has anyone here ever had success getting two rewards simultaneously?

Why would it possibly be a problem?

The only problem I can think of is that you might only get 1 stay credit.

I also think you will be fine with 2 different properties and obtaining 2 stay credits. Enjoy your trip.

My husband used my account number one time when I was using it the same night. Hilton absolutely would not give two stay credits. We were told to get a spousal account (no longer available) which we did. They then credited us for the second stay.
Based on my one time experience, I'm quite pessimistic that you will get two stay credits for the same night at different hotels.

IMO, you will be able to "spend" two awards, one for your parents and one for yourself, but will only get stay credit for yourself. In fact, if your parents are using an award of yours, you should never get stay credit, and if they get treated like Golds, it is only through a courtesy of the specific hotel - you can not vest your credit in others, AFAIK. As for their using an award or staying with your name, I'm pretty sure that's against TOS and rather risky.

SanDiego1K , I stand corrected. It makes sense you can't be 2 places at once. Booking 2 rooms at the same hotel is a different story if they merge the folios, but that was addressed in another thread. Thanks for the clarification.

I think staying at DC and LV during the same weekend qualifies as be 2 places at once.

You should be able to get credit for 2 stays that overlap. If it doesn't post automatically, then email Gold support or DD and you should have no problems. I schedule overlaps all the time... sometimes I don't know if I might need to travel for business or not, other times I book rooms for contractors and check-in for them (makes it easier for me to get reimbursed for contractor expenses, and I get the points).
The key is that your name needs to be on the folios. If your parents checked in and they asked your parents for a credit card + ID for incidentals, and they put your parents name on the Folio (even if your name was on the reservation or even if you paid via Net Direct) then you won't get points/stay/nights credit.

can you let me know how this turned out for you? I often encounter this same situation.

Twice over the last three years I have booked rooms for my wife and her mother to stay at the Gatwick Hilton and included my name on the reservation as well as their names. When She checks in she gives my name and they are checked in. I get the points and they get a great room with access to the lounge (both times they received free breakfast as well).
On their last stay I was on the road at the same time and I received credit for both stays. We checked in and out on different days but they did overlap.

While on the scenario above I canceled last minute, I did try to pull the same thing off this last weekend. This time with the same check-out dates. Of course it posted the $160 bill my parents racked up up rather than the $700 bill I racked up. I am going to fill in the 'missing stay request' to see if I can get credit for both.

I'm confused.
Your last question asks about "getting two rewards simultaneously"
But the first sentence mentions getting the points.
Are these both going to be Paid stays? And are you are asking if you will be getting the points for both stays if your parents use your HH number for a stay that overlaps another stay where you will be using the same number?

I think the OP considers points as rewards and paid for all their stays. As opposed to award stays.

The above can only be done "legally" within the HH T&C if you have a mutual account.

After nearly six months on this site, I continue to be amazed by how much of the content here (especially in the hotel forums) is focused on behavior that ranges from unethical (at best) to fraudulent... or worse.
... and the moderators and the organizers of FT facilitate the practice by continuing to let it happen.

My wife and I have a joint account and just this year we have had over a dozen simultaneous stays and always received 2 stay credits and points, no questions asked. As for the previous post; I for one come to this site to get "tricks of the trade" and see nothing wrong with this subject matter.

Good for you... I am glad that you are able to work within the HH Terms and Conditions to achieve what you have. But that sort of situation was not what I was posting about.
Fraud is fraud.
Gaining something of value under false pretenses (to the detriment of the other party) is fraud.
Old joke:
Man: Would you go to bed with me for one million dollars?
Woman: Well, I don't know... I guess so.
Man: Would you go to bed with me for $50?
Woman: Of course not... what sort of person do you think I am?
Man: Oh, we've already established that. Now we are just haggling over the price.
Those folks who scheme (in violation of T&Cs) to get hotel credits that they don't deserve or (like on the Marriott thread) troll for corporate discount codes that they are not entitled to, have determined what they are... and are now just trying to determine at what price they are willing to sell themselves.
But I am certain that those are not the "tricks of the trade" that you are personally referring to.

I have booked pre-paid rates for my wife and I then subsequently changed plans and stayed in another Hilton. My wife continued with the original booking and stayed with her sister. I got points for both and two stays credited to my account. I have also had to do this with Marriott and received points and nights for both hotels. On neither occasion did I intend to cheat the hotel groups concerned but as the original bookings were pre-paid my name stayed on the folio.

Just got this reply from Hilton:
Dear bestbet33,
Thank you for your correspondence regarding credit for your stay at the Hilton San Francisco for November 7, 2008 to November 9, 2008.
We are unable to process your request as our records indicate that you have been credited for a stay at Hilton Garden Inn Irvine East for that same time period.
Best regards,

So Hilton is smarter than you thought. Good for Hilton. I actually have had to fight for stays because of a bogus stay by someone else that somehow was credited to me. If this were the AA forum, you would be whining about your account being locked and points taken away.
I had this issue when I had booked a room, stayed there for 3 days of of 4 day reservation; and then was unexpectedly called to another city. The Hampton in City 1 had an early checkout charge so I just left it empty.
A call explaining this to the DD got me credit for both stays.

Please don't use real names of airline, hotel or other staff - it's an FT policy not to post real names.
AND - just as important - if you have a problem with a post, a poster, the content of a post or thread - please use the "Report Bad Post" icon on the left side of the post to report it to a moderator. I realize everyone has different ideas on what is ethical or not and if oyu feel a post is inappropriate on that basis, please feel free to report it. I can't promise we'll take action but we will look at it.
