South - Hotel in Chattanooga?

I was thinking of taking a road trip up to Chattanooga, to see some of the sights. I'm looking for a nice hotel to stay in, but it seems to be somewhat slim pickings.

Are there any nice 4* hotels in Chattanooga? Or closer to it than, say, Atlanta?

I've stayed at the downtown Marriott and it is OK. But if you want to have a little "local' flavor, I would recommend getting a train-car room at the Chattanooga Choo-choo. I think it is a Holiday Inn now. It is a neat property to visit with a lot of history there.

I've stayed at the Marriott - and agree that it is ok. More 2-3 star than 4 or more. We took a peek at the choo-choo train hotel on our last trip - and - although cute - it looked kind of primitive. After seeing it - I'd say the Marriott was a better choice. Robyn
