I'm trying to plan an award itinerary that includes connecting MRU-JNB-LHR on SAA . Depending on the date and which of the two JNB-LHR flights have awards available, the connection time is either 1:20 or :50.
Any idea if one or both these are considered legal connection times for JNB?

The connection from SA191 to SA236 (the 1:20 connection) is perfectly legal but the earlier flight is not. Time permitting though, you could take a stopover in JNB and go on a safari for a few days.

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. It will severely limit the date combinations that will work for the trip.
I'm only allowed one stopover, so I figured I'd do that in JNB on the outbound when the connection issue is similar -- one flight makes the MRU connection and one doesn't. I was hoping maybe 50 minutes would be OK.
Maybe I'll just forget about the MRU segments since my ultimate destination is RUN. RUN is much closer to MRU than JNB and the flights are much cheaper.
