Travel Technology - Say hello to Veptu!View Full Version : Say hello to Veptu! thesimflyer May 10, 07, 2:29 pm Yes, thats right. Its a very good imitation copied from Vertu, i have already bought a gold 24K plated V6699 and a mini V398. www.veptu.org ScottC May 10, 07, 2:51 pm Looks like only their 2 top models are going to work in the US (and only on T-mobile). I'd never consider one of these, its like wearing a fake Rolex, tacky and pointless. And by looking at them I can tell they are not that good an imitation, and I bet that their look and feel makes them even less like a Vertu. thesimflyer May 10, 07, 3:01 pm Veptu is in some things better than Vertu. For example, vertu has just phone book and the concierge button and to send SMS/MMS, nothing more, i think. Veptu has MP3/MP4, Camera (2 Megapixels) and maybe something more. And a whole lot cheaper! Scott, why dont you think its a good imitation? ScottC May 10, 07, 3:35 pm Scott, why dont you think its a good imitation? Because for me part of a Vertu is in the quality. High end glass instead of plastic displays, perfectly cut keys, real leather, good quality speaker. As for the features; IMHO there is a reason a Vertu doesn't get filled with features; it isn't an "every day phone", it is targeted at people who don't care about Bluetooth or a crappy camera. kanebear May 10, 07, 8:12 pm Having owned a Signature, these are very easy to tell apart from the real article. IMO this is no different than taking a Toyota Prius and putting Mercedes badges on it. Sure it may be electric and do some things the Benz won't... but it's not the genuine article no matter how flawed that may be. derpelikan May 10, 07, 10:27 pm i like vertu, but i think it is insane to use a mobilephone which costs 7000usd and doesnt satisfy my needs. could you please post some facts about the comparison of VERTU and the copied phone? it cant be as good as vertu, but if it has a nice feeling (i.e real leather etc.) like the vertu i might be buying one. what i like is the touch feeling of vertu, you touch it, and it feels good.. but this doesnt justify the price for me. dp jason8612 May 11, 07, 12:07 pm same here. I never owned a Vertu, but I did get to hold it and test it. Its a very nice phone, has the feel of a solid phone, like the Nokia 8800, which I still have and use. It may not be top of the line in features, but the built is what makes it special. I'm looking more and more into the ascent series from Vertu. |
