The Boeing 737-800, with 105 passengers and a crew of nine,
disappeared from radar screens after midnight on May 5 after
taking off from Douala, headed for Kenya's capital, Nairobi.
There is no chance anyone survived because the plane broke up,
with parts of it buried in mud, Douala prosecutor Luc Ndjodo told
Agence France-Presse. The plane was found late yesterday.
I took this 737-800, which is spanking new and great C class from JNB-NBO in late December, it was just released to KQ.

My thoughts go out to the families of those who lost their lives on this flight.
Looks like this was KQ's sole 738. Human loss aside, it's a shame KQ lost this plane - C class did look great (58" pitch, versus 40" for their other 737's).

Always a kick in the gut to hear of these tragic events. May they rest in peace.:(

Really sad about the people onboard. I'm having second thoughts about my safari trip to Kenya on KQ now :(

Because of one accident with a cause that has yet to be determined?

I have 4 flights planned on KQ (one each on their 777 and 767, and two trips on KQ's 737-700) in June/July this year. I have no concerns at all. Just the opposite - I'm sure KQ will check and double check their equipment to make sure everything is in tip-top shape. After all, KQ is one of the better African airlines, I'm sure they don't want to tarnish their reputation!
