Longtime lurker, firsttime poster.

I'm curious whether anyone has rented a Lincoln MKX. I'm curious how they're equipped; I've read about Zephyrs/MKZ with the heated/cooled seats and was a bit surprised Hertz ponied up for them. I'm wondering whether the MKXs are equipped with this option as well.

Thanks,
Mike

Yup. They do.

If you can find it on the MKZ, then its on the MKX. They're pretty much the exact same vehicle aside from the obvious difference.

Rented an MKX at YVR a couple of weeks ago. Given that it was a Canadian car, this might not be that relevant, but this particular one was FULLY loaded including heated/cooled seats, panorama roof, THX sound system, factory navigation (but no navigation disk), and Sirius. Hertz had installed Neverlost.

The ones I saw in SNA had AWD.. I had reservations for them, but did not want Neverlost so they moved me to a Ford Expedition 4x4.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I've booked one for next month and will report back. It's also my first prestige rental -- should be fun.

What class is it? And did you reserve it beforehand? I was looking at the YVR car list, and the only thing I could think I could be replacing is maybe the aviator...

I got one at LAX a couple of months back ... it was brand new with only a couple of hundred miles on the clock. If memory serves me correctly, it was fully loaded with heated seats etc. It was a very nice upgrade from a mid-size ^ . Unfortunately it was only a one-day rental.

Had reserved an A4, saw the MKX so asked for that instead. Had to pay the $10 for Neverlost, but didn't pay any other upgrade fee or for the Sirius. I'm 5*, and know the agent there pretty well, but don't know if that factored into it.

I wish I had a review of the MKX to post, but I didn't get one -- despite my Prestige Collection reservation the car wasn't available. And the staff at SJC wasn't very helpful -- after 45 minutes of them offering me Fords and Toyotas, I was finally able to get an Infiniti G35. It was the old model, had nearly 25,000 miles on it and wasn't very clean.

I had one about a week ago out of SFO. I have also rented the Ford Edge out of LAX about a month and half ago.

After driving the edge and finding it decent for SUV alternative rental I was really excited about the MKX. It was a 2007 Lincoln MKX - AWD Premium with the Elite package, which includes heated/cooled seats and reverse sensing system. The car did not have Navigation nor the Panoramic Vista roof. I didn't note if the car had the upgraded stereo or not but the system was VERY good. Every crossover I drive I look at in regards to my next vehicle replacement. Currently I drive a 03 Land Rover Discovery SE7 which I love but constantly tries to break my heart, next time around I want to retain space and all weather traction but not necessarily a truck based SUV or spotty reliability.

I have read that Lincoln was going after the Lexus RX series, while the product is good I think they missed it. The last RX I drove was a 2004 RX330 and I feel it was superior. The Lincoln while nice it is too wallowy to drive confidentially. I feel this is a Lincoln trademark and the Ford Edge does not share this ride. The last Navigator I rented was the same way also, whereas the similar Ford Expedition seemed more confident on the road. Inside the car was nice but the wood looks cheap (not sure if it was real or fake), there is a lot of silver everywhere inside and the cabin seemed very claustrophobic without the moonroof option. While the power was good I just wasn't impressed with the car, I felt more impressed with The Edge because of its lower MSRP. Honestly they drive very similar except for the wallowy ride and I don't feel the Lincoln name or options really warrants the extra price here. If I were to need to rent one again I would choose the Edge to save cash and splurge on something great the next time. I want to try out the Q7 and have always been curious about the XC90 even though it’s been around for a while. Anyway on my trip I ended up needing a third row seat so I went back to Hertz at the end of the next day and swapped it out for a 06 Subaru B9 Tribeca. While ugly and gutless I actually enjoyed this car on my drive to Sonoma and throughout downtown SF. It had dark gray leather, a large moonroof and seemed more substantial to drive. I would never have guessed that the Tribeca would beat the MKX or Edge in my book.

Agreed on the Subaru -- in fact, if you're interested in the Tribeca still, you may want to wait on the refreshed '08 model. The ugly grille and other design elements have been replaced with a much cleaner profile and the engine gets upgraded to a 3.6L "boxer" with 256 hp. ^

I have an MKX from Hertz here in Chicago. I swapped the Highlander in for this car. It does have heated/cooled seats, sirius satellite, neverlost. It has the ultimate package as described on lincoln's website. One of the better SUV's from Hertz in my opinion.
