Hi,

I've done some digging around but haven't found a solid answer to something that I want to know:

I'm doing an award trip in F and part of my trip involves PVG-ICN on OZ and then ICN-NRT on UA.

There are 2 lounges operated by *A carriers (NH/SQ) which some people on here have reported that they are no longer *G lounges. I still should be able to get access to both because of my class of travel. . .OZ say on their website that the lounges their customers use are the SQ lounge and the MU lounge.

1. The flight I would be taking is the 11:50 flight, so according to SQ's site their SKL would be closed around the time I would be waiting. This would mean using either the NH lounge or the MU lounge (first section). Has anyone here had any experience with these lounges? I'm not expecting much (I frequent BD's lounges at LHR!!!) but was wondering what they were like.

2. Also, after going through the numerous threads re: ICN lounges, am I right in thinking that I should spend most of my time in the larger OZ F lounge near gate 12? They all look brilliant! I should have enough time to do some lounge hopping (SKL F --> OZ F near gate42 ) as well. I'm on a UA flight so maybe it would be best to hop from the eastern side --> west? Also, what sort of bathroom amenities do the showers in the SKL and/or OZ F provide?

Many thanks,

The NH and SQ lounges at PVG are only available to *G when they taking NH or SQ flights, hence no access to *G or F class travel on OZ. Pretty much the same case as when I board NZ flights at SYD I don't usually have access to SQ or UA lounges. If not mistaken, in Shanghai OZ use contract lounge operated by the airport. Nothing special to expect really. I am sure FM will have *A lounges at T2 this December.

The OZ lounge at Gate 25, where I was directed today, is quite frankly pathetic... old chairs, poor lighting, no wine or spirits... nothing. There was another airport-operated lounge near Gate 38, I believe (just past security) that looked far far better. Is there any reason that OZ couldn't contract with this lounge instead?

What is OZ currently doing in PVG for F pax? Is there a decent Air China offering now that they're in *A?

There are okay FM lounges in the new Terminal 2. Nothing to write home about but a lot better than before. From the OZ website:

Shanghai Shanghai Pudong Int'l Airport Shanghai Airlines Lounge Pass the security check after boarding (B Counter). Move to the 4th floor using the escalator on the right. (Next to 77 Gate) 06:00L~24:00L

OZ actually uses the shared lounge number 77 at PVG (run by the airport I believe), after security and one floor above departure level. F lounge is rather basic in terms of food and booze offerings, however, does offer nice views of the tarmac and passing ships. Business is somewhat larger with essentially the same offerings. The two shared bright spots: a noodle bar and a stand up enclosed smoking room (if you are a smoker of course).
