And before anyone asks, the extra points (per T&Cs) count as bonus points, not base points.

And to avoid a further question: Triple points does not mean triple bonus points but triple points in total - by the way: Not really new in NY - they offer it all the time. Combined with the Q4 Triple Point promotion it was a great deal: A total 6* points for one stay: Staying a week in NY on for NY typical rate of 400 Dollars per night gave you a GLON2 award for six more nights in NY.

Spend money for a good deal:

I just booked a pretty expensive Waldorf Towers stay (out of my own pocket, not on a client - saying this to avoid the regular comments) and decided to go for an even more expensive suite category considering that this is somehow a rare chance to combine two promos:

The Waldorf Towers has a triple point promotion if your stay includes a weekend and I am signed up for the current triple point promotion. If I calculate correctly, every Dollar spend gives me a total of 60 points (including Diamond and Double-Dipping).

Therefore I decided that Mrs. Flying Lawyer and myself will pamper ourselves not to the regular 500 Dollar suite for our anniversary but to a 1250 Dollar suite for four nights. Sounds pretty expensive but if you calculate it carefully it becomes reasonable again: 3000 Dollars (750 * 4) extra spending gives you 180.000 extra points, enough for a GLON2 in the Cavalieri, the Conrad Hong Kong or the Hilton Tokio.

Having said this, it more or less buys you an extra vacation for free and we believe that this is a perfect excuse for an insane expenditure and to try their best suites.:D

So nice since NYC is so expensive, those points add up quickly. :) ^

Remember, they have the triple base points in New York if your stay includes a Sunday. The rate is slightly higher compared to the Hilton.com rate, however can be great value. Ms. FlyingLawyer have treated ourselves to one of the nicer premier suites at the Waldorf-Towers for our anniversary and with the ongoing promotions it becomes good value for money even with a rate 1275 per night:

Base Points: 12750
Double Dip: 6375
Diamond: 6375
2007 Stay Promotion: 25500
NY Triple Points: 25500
German Hilton Visa: 2550

This adds up to close to 80000 points a day. We will be there for 5 days and this adds up to 400000 points, enough for 14 days on GLON at the Waldorf Hilton in London or the Cavalieri in Rome. I have a certain feeling that we will dine around the hotel restaurants too. Each Dollar spent is close to 63 points....

Wow. I stumbled upon this looking for ideas in planning a September weekend trip to New York. That's a lot of money for four nights (even in NYC), but if it "buys" you six nights at the Cavalieri, it's well worth considering. Flying Lawyer: Have you done it yet? Did you get all of your points? Thanks for sharing this one.

I recall seeing some posts earlier this year where someone did this. Not sure if it was the Waldorf or it was a NYC deal where they had the triple points promo and the hotel had a double or triple point promo.

Roundabout 430.000 Points posted today without any problems. And: We received a "nice" upgrade into a (roughly) 350 sqm suite with 100 sqm living room, 80 sqm dining room and the rest devided into a full (!) kitchen (for what reason ever), a sleeping palace and some other smaller rooms....
