Virgin Atlantic Flying Club - Upgrade to VIRGIN PE at reduced price and general advice

My partner and i are going to St Lucia in June 07 and are flying economy however we are worried about legroom as have always flown premium with other charter airlines long haul and the legrooms are much better (E.g flew both first choice and Thomson premium long haul in 2006 etc) . First choice was excellent the best ever.
We have booked the holiday through virgin holidays and going for 2 weeks AI.
I don't mind paying about £100 to £150.00 each way but think £200.00+ is a bit steep.
Is there anyway we can get the premium seats at the reduced price.
I would like at least the return journey as have booked decent ish seats going on the 2 seats together at the back. However i was told that all there are only 2 seats together on the way back in crap locations.
When we booked these seats the bloke on the phone though that the whole plane was all 3 4 3 but on there 474/400 seat plans it shows a row of 2 seats at the back. can anyone confirm this is correct as i am worried that the bloke in the call center (possibly in India) was looking at a different plane layout to me. When we booked the holiday the women did say it was a 747/400. when i looked at all 747/400 seat plans on virgins web site they all had 2 seats at the back so am confused.

Thanks
Joanne

Who have you booked through?
If you have booked through Virgin Holidays, then they sometimes offer upgrade deals, it is worth giving them a ring to ask.
If you don't want to pay the full whack for an upgrade to PE, you can try and get one of the exit row seats. These are only bookable at check in, and there is a charge.
To see the seat maps for your plane, which will more than likely be a LGW / MAN 747, have a look at the seat maps on the V-Flyer website. (http://www.v-flyer.com/seatmaps.asp)
