American Express Membership Rewards - amex spg gold status for 30K spent

I just want to remind all of you with a spg amex that you now get gold status after you send 30K on the card.
I know this has been posted but I am reminding people to check.
I spent 30K and still did not see the status change to gold.
I was on the phone today making a reservation and brought this to the csr attention.
she made the change manually and said there have been problems with the status posting, so for all of you with the spg amex who dont earn gold via stays make sure you ask them to change your status to gold bec it might not happen automatically after you reach the spend threshold.

You can obtain the same SPG gold status by spending only $450 for a Platinum card. In addition, you also gain all the benefits of the card.

If you spent $30,000 in calendar 2006 the status should have become effective March 1, 2007 and you were right to complain. If you spent $30,000 since January 1, 2007 you were merely impatient...

If during any calendar year, Eligible Spending on your Card account is $30,000 or more, you (the Basic Cardmember) will be enrolled for at least twelve months in the Gold Preferred level of the Starwood Preferred Guest® loyalty program (unless you are already enrolled in an equivalent or higher level). Please allow 12–16 weeks after your Eligible Spending equals or exceeds such amount for the applicable year for enrollment to become effective. If Eligible Spending on your Card account is $30,000 or more in calendar year 2006, your Gold Preferred Guest® status within the Starwood Preferred Guest program will become effective on or about March 1, 2007.
