Las Vegas - OT: Lost a purse in LAS either in taxi to airport or at airport

Hi All,

A few weeks ago, I lost a purse either in the taxi to/from Venetian to AC Term 2 in LAS or in Term 2 since the long line caused me to be too late to check in and had to be rescheduled for the next day.

I did not realize later when I got back to the Venetian that my purse is missing. I either lost it in a taxi or at the airport. The taxi drive gave me a blank receipt without his cab # and the receipt does not have the cab company name, only Coors picture on the back.

I have been calling Venetian (in case the cab returned it to the hotel) and several Cab companies' lost and found without results so far. Who do I call at the aiport Lost and Found? Also could other FTers think of other avenues I should check with? Do you think I can call a concierge to try and get some possible contact numbers? I think I had a wallet with some cash in EURO and GBP plus a lot of receipts plus some VIA train tickets and some FF cards so they can find my name but not necessarily my telephone number.

Any suggestion is welcome.
Mary

I'm going to move this to the Las Vegas forum as I'm sure the regulars there will have some ideas.

Good Luck,

Since you say it was a few weeks ago I think the chance of you ever getting it back are slim. If it was in the AC and the staff found it or anyone turned it in they would have gotten ahold of you by now.

Airport Lost and Found is an option, LAS uses online email to contact their lost and found here (http://www.mccarran.com/emails.asp?e_id=15).

Hope this helps, I doubt it would make it back to your hotel at this point. In the mean time start getting replacement cards, etc....

Sorry to hear!!!!

skAAtinsteph,

I have been calling Venetian and some of the cab company numbers I was given but no luck so far. I know I am coming up on 30 days so want to make a last minute push to find it. I heard that over 30 days, things gets destroyed or sold.

Fortunately, most of the credit cards I use were in my money belt and there were only a few cards for bank access, etc. plus a few frequent flyer cards. Thinking back, I think I had a small chunk of Euro cash and GBP cash in there. Also there were lots of train ticket stubbs and receipts. I would be okay if someone returned everything save the cash.

Thanks for the e-mail contact for Mccarran lost and found and I got from AC concierge the number for lost and found and Tom911 e-mailed me the police number...

Thanks everyone for the additional suggestions.
Mary

Sorry to hear you lost your purse.

If you left your purse in the taxi, one reason you might not have gotten it back is because the taxi driver didn't find it, but the next person who got into the taxi did and simply took it.

I worked with a woman whose husband drove a taxi and she told me they would find cameras and wallets and airline tickets and all sorts of things left behind - she said her husband and other drivers were very good about trying to track down the owner, or else would give the item(s) to the main depot and they would try to track down the owner.

Consider yourself lucky - when I was living in Europe I met a young couple who had flown into Paris and then took the subway. Only after they got to the hotel did the girl discover she had left her camera case in the subway - but in the camera case, she had stored their passports, return trip tickets, all their cash, credit cards, hotel vouchers, Eurail passes and her list of phone numbers and addresses. Now THAT was a disaster...
